I still remember reading about this getting canned and not understanding/being really upset

Still hurts :(

PtoPOnline has the most detailed look of B.C. ever shown. Made by Lionhead Studio's satellite Intrepid, and eventually cancelled in 2004, this game is one of my personal holy grails for all unreleased games, let alone Xbox titles.

Thanks to IGN for preserving the old video from Intrepid, and to all game press outlets that keep their old articles online. And of course my pals over at Unseen64!

It is believed that this video falls under fair use for educational and research purposes. All games, whether cancelled or released, deserve to be documented and preserved for future generations.

Borman over on GAF wrote:BC has been somewhat of a holy grail for me. It was one of the games that sold me an Xbox early on. And so I waited. And waited. Only for it to be canned in 2004. The dreams of dinosaurs on the Xbox died along with it. We've seen a bit of a revival lately with games like ARK: Survival Evolved, but nothing had ever captured my interest like BC.

Being that I like to track down unreleased titles, this game was always at the top of my list. I've tracked down things like Kameo on the original Xbox, along with many other high profile titles, but this one had eluded me until recently.

I had to split things into multiple videos. This first video (with the new content starting around 7 minutes in, although if you want a history of the game start at the beginning) covers what the media was shown in 2002. First at e3, and later at X02.

It is nice to finally have something beyond the 240p or less video that has been kicking around since the early 2000's. It is rough around the edges for sure, which is why it was kept behind closed doors for most of its life, but man, the potential is just crazy.

Wow, SoK, this is an exellent find. I was an Xbox-only gamer for that generation of consoles and I recall being really excited for BC. A few screenshots where published in Official Xbox Mag but I never saw any footage - until now! Nowdays it looks rather basic but I can still see the potential and I love the huge dinos walking across the plains.

If only...

I can imagine them canning it because tech couldn't do it justice but why the hell has the idea not been revisited since?

Maybe Far Cry Primal could step into the (unworn) shoes of BC? I like the idea of exploring a stone age world.
