You can't have sex on a memory foam mattress. It doesn't work. They also make you sweat like crazy.

I'm happy with the Silent Night 1200 pocket springs (you can get more). It doesn't seem to have degraded at all after about a year. It's softened, but it's meant to, coming "medium hard" by most standards.

It supports everything and sometimes wake up feeling like a breeze has sort of washed over me. Any pain is usually my fault from stupid sleeping positions (and I haven't sorted out my pillows yet). My back pain has improved considerably.

Edit: That looks like a spring/foam hybrid which is different.

I have a memory foam mattress and it's fantastic, no problems whatsoever. Did spend 800 notes on it mind.

I think it's more the breathable ones you want with the vents on the side.

The literal wedges of foam, not so great.

Erm I was thinking of upgrading to a double bed. Didn't realise single beds weren't popular anymore?

There are no springs in this one actually...but the EMMA and SIMBA ones do I think. 1200 pockets sounds great and you can get it for under £300 from a quick google i just did.
Found this interesting article http://www.myfoammattress.net/guide/sex.html

I'm surprised how expensive they can be so this one for £300 isn't bad

We bought the cheapest mattress in IKEA when we were poor students just moved up to Scotland. Moved to a nicer flat with an identical outside but so much better inside mattress. Landlord turned out to be an absolute boot so when we moved out we stole hers and left the gooseberry fool one there. She never noticed and it's so worth it. 4 years later it's still comfy as gooseberry fool.

We got a good one with our bed frame second hand, the guy had excellent taste (and now drives a jaguar and works for AMD), but after it started to wane we swapped it for one that seemed a bit better condition from my mum. Terrible mistake, it was absolute agony after couple months.

Definitely never judge a mattress by its looks.

The main problem re sex on memory foam is your knees and other parts sinking in but I think what they're talking about in that article with regards to "wasting energy" on a sprung is one that is too soft. Spring won't react to heat or trap heat or anything like that, it really depends on the design. I'd definitely go for a mix if I could or add a topper to a sprung. Our "cloud" on top turned out great though, it's very soft filings. It's just cuddlier :)

Either way it is definitely worth spending good money on a brand new well received mattress, it improves your quality of life and you can take it around with you for 10+ years sometimes, if you take care of it.

Im really tempted to get one of those Simba mattresses, the ones with the adverts of the big arse and little arse robots bouncing up and down.

I'm trying to imagine robots with arses and it's proving a mixture of difficult even for my well practised imagination and somewhat problematic.

I will never forget the wonderful nights sleep I had at the Sheraton LAX, it had an amazing topper which I just sank into. Also having amazing duck down pillows, duvet and high quality silky bedding helps a lot too.

Apparently it’s their own Sheraton signature range made by a company called Simmons.
In fact just found it online:
http://europe.sheratonstore.com/en/bed/ ... n-mattress

It’s very expensive though and I wouldn’t dream of paying that much for a mattress.
I have a Casper one which is great but still miles away in terms of comfort from the Sheraton Hotel one.

We can always count on you to be shopping around!

I'm very happy with silent night pocket 1200, might get a topper at some point.
