i thought that was ok, the singing was very cheesy, but you cant exactly moan about it, since not everyone in the world is English. I dont know what you expect if you thought that was rubbish, since its mostly public opinion who say dont involve politics, then you say that was propaganda (when really it was just dancing and acrobatics) is quite ironic.

Stop ******* moaning and appreciate what huge talent this country has got

this country had huge talent, now we rely on x factor, and sold out stars (and thats just the entertainment business).

I love this retarded snobery people have towards the X-Factor. Leona Lewis is a spectacularly talented singer and one of the best female vocal artists this country has ever produce. Yet despite this a lot of you seem to think because she was discovered by a talent show we should keep her under wraps just in case the rest of the world finds out.

Our 8 minutes was actually going fairly well IMO until we got Leona Lewis and Jimmy Page on a bus. It was inferior to the spectacular Chinese performance (it's quite laughable if anyone did think it was pure propaganda) of course.

I just watched the bus part of the closing ceremony and thought it was superb  If we're just going to take the piss like that in four years time then I can't wait to see what we can come up with for an oppening ceremony. Jimmy Page FTW!

We really need to show the world our awesome sense of humour in our opening ceremony. Maybe some Python-inspired weirdness.

Exactly, we'll never be able to come up with something as heavily coreographed as the these ceremonies so why bother, let us do what we do best and take the piss out of ourselves.

But preferably not with Little Britain.

im not saying dislike all singers / dancers found through talent shows, im saying its a shame we have to rely on them now to find our stars, because the music industry is making it too hard for most people to even bother trying to get through the normal way. i dont like the way, actual good musicians and good bands have to work there tits off for years to get big, then some random singer no ones heard of(and not even all brits(who is not a spectacularly talented singer)) makes it through a few heat stage things in a talent show. if shes around in 5 years time (actively) i will pay you a tenner.

By what measurement is Leona Lewis not a spectacular singer. I'm not really a fan of female vocalists but even I can appreciate how amazing her voice is.

i guess its a matter of opinion, but if you think shes one of a kind, your very wrong. people like her come and go, there are plenty gospel singers across the country that sing as good as her - even better than her. the bottom line is, if you really think they got her because she sings good, again your wrong, the popular music industry is all about image and looks.

That's just not true though, there's an incredible amount of hugely talented Britons in the entertainment industry. I can't be arsed to go off into a list, but just think about it for a minute; there's a fair few.

Any that would actually do the Olympics though? Look at that 2012 party after the Olympics, they had The Feeling and Heather Small

i dont think we are doing as well as we used to in the music industry. pop music comes and goes, so that leaves space for rock - jazz - metal - classical. there are no great rock bands, or at least no were near as there used to be. all the best bands in the world are british, thats a fact, but the list of the great band started dieing out once the 1990s appeared. just to get this clear im not trying to piss anyone off, just having a nice debate.

I'll have you know Britpop was better than all the bilge the US was pumping out in the 90's.
