Best albums by The Fall

I've been listening to a best of compilation an ex made for me a few years back and really want to buy a few albums. It's hard to choose which one though, seeing as they've released 30 studio albums. Any fans of the band here to suggest the essential releases?

hmm. Which songs did you like the most from that compilation?

The general consensus is that the early / mid-80s is their most successful period. This Nation's Saving Grace and Hex Enduction Hour are the albums which get the most acclaim.

I'd also recommend The Wonderful and Frightening World Of The Fall, Extricate and The Real New Fall LP to start off with.

From the compilation I particularly liked: Flat Of Angels, Eat Y'Self Fitter, The Man Whose Head Expanded, Gotta See Jane, Alton Towers, My Ex-Classmates Kids, Funnel Of Love. I didn't really dislike anything out of the 17 tracks she hand picked.

I purchased Live At The Witch Trials just because it came first and reviews seemed to like it, but will go for one of those next.

Even their weakest albums have at least a couple of great moments. They're one of those bands where there's always one fantastic song you haven't heard yet. Enjoy. :wub:

It's also worth keeping an eye out for the Complete Peel Sessions box-set, which is probably the definitive Fall release and has a large number of sessions which beat the album versions.

I've got an album but I don't know which one it is....I really enjoy it, don't know any song names either....

C-R-E-E-P is a lyric in one of them so i guess that's called creep.
