Best anti-virus software/setup these days?

These days though, MSE is really all you need.

I had zone alarm until one day it managed to waste days of trouble shooting by blocking my entire wifi interface.

Now win firewall and built in router firewall seem to be sufficient. Now the government just takes whatever it wants at the source, nevermind worrying about hackers.

I've used AVG in the past but I prefer Avast. Can't really remember why but I think it's less of a system hogger (?), amongst other things.


Is my setup excessive on a Windows 8.1 system?

Should confess I also have Malwarebytes on top of the programs above. Malwarebytes never seems to detect anything and Avast only occasionally claims to block threats.

If you online bank with Barclays you can get Kaspersky for free.
