I'm moving house next week. My new house isn't part of the Virgin Media network (which I currently use and it is fantastic - my pings were always some of the lowest online - a bit of an unfair advantage!) so I'm having to change broadband providers. Any particular recommendations (with gaming in mind)?

Virgin Media is amazing and definitely recommended if you're serious about competitive online gaming. It's a definite advantage.

Thanks for all of the replies. I've gone for 54Mbs BT Infinity on the basis that it seems like the premium provider from what's left. I'll maybe take the 72Mbs option later if I can afford it.

Just a quick update: As I said, I went with BT. Service is occasionally quite choppy but latency is as good as Virgin's. In fact, my PC says approx. 1m/s (which can't be right!). Xbox and PS are saying around 18-20m/s which still places me as one of the fastest when in games like Battlefield 1 which share ping response times. Impressed (especially as it was nearly £40 cheaper than my Virgin Media rate).

BTW Virgin have been absolute numpties when it came to disconnecting my service. It turns out, after being called by one of their managers, that my new house can be plumbed into their network. However, they missed 3 engineer appointments to do a pre-install so I decided to cancel. They still charged me an additional month's service for not disconnecting soon enough (their fault), neglected to give me the £16 rebate I was promised for not completing a full month's subscription (their fault), kept me on the phone for 3hrs trying to rectify the situation, etc., etc. After all this, I had a knock on the door this Saturday by two Virgin engineers saying that I requested an install at my house! Shambolic.

Get it plumbed in. Then you will have twice the bandwidth 8-)

The rest are pretty much the same as they use the same infrastructure. It's just about price.
