Looking at 30MB or less, plus line rental but no home phone, anyone have any suggestions?

I would say Sky or BT.

Money Saving Expert says Virgin Media. If it's available in your area and you pay the line rental up front, it'll work out to £21.16 per month for an 18 month contract.

One thing to consider is uploading. If you do much then Virgin aren't the best as they have lower speeds than competitors and cap uploading if you go over a certain data limit.

I'm with Sky and they are really good. Speeds are great and I can't remember the last time I had a fault that wasn't my own fault.

Sky uploads are a bit gooseberry fool though.

Best uploads are TalkTalk.

I was with Virgin Media but for online gaming it was absolutely rubbish due to uploading being shite and they cap it around 5pm till 10pm. Switched to TT the download speed is not as fast but it's around 80MB and 20 upload speed which kills the Virgin media upload which was at (2MB or 1MB not sure) . The only thing that hikes the price for me is that I have international calls free anytime, and any time free calls in the u.k. £45 for all is not bad.

I have about 20mb upload speed. Is most than enough and host a minecraft server, mumble server and a bitcoin p2pool node over it with no latency issues

My sky has uploads of less than 1mb, not on fibre optic or anything, but that it is mega slow.

Fair enough, will get fibre at some point, just don't really need to at the mo.
