PostBest Disney Film - Group 2: 1980s-1990s

Group 2 of the GRcade poll to decide the best Disney film. This time: the 80s and 90s.

While some might view the results as a given with the Disney Renaissance giving us the Likes of Aladdin and The Lion King, the third entry may not be so obvious as The Little Mermaid and Beauty and the Beast are both strong contenders, along with some 80s films that have a small but dedicated following like The Black Cauldron.

As a reminder, the groups are:

Group 1: 1930s-1970s (results)
Group 2: 1980s-1990s
Group 3: 2000s
Group 4: 2010s
Group 5: Pixar

Everyone can choose up to 3 films to nominate from each category and the top 5 from each will go through to the grand final. Each poll will last 3 days.

For reference, I got the list of films from here. I'll not be counting any non-Disney made films that they released (e.g. Ghibli stuff) and only theatrical releases will be included so if your favourite Disney film is Aladdin 2: The Return of Jafar then you're gooseberry fool out of luck. And taste. If you think anything is missing and should be added then give us a shout.

Little Mermaid, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast. strawberry float The Lion King, overly sentimental piece of shite with added Elton. :dread:

Beauty and the Beast.
The Lion King.
Tarzan.

It's unfair as there are a lot of crackers in the poll. Aladdin, Hercules etc.

The 80s seems to be the weakest, with Basil and Little Mermaid the only standout.

DuckTales wasn't a theatrical release here, should be taken off the list.

1) Aladdin
2) Lion King

The Little Mermaid by default because I've seen very few of the others.

Aladdin remains my favourite Disney film, and Jasmine is the hottest princess.

Are you sure? I am pretty certain I saw it in the cinema in 1991 in Aldershot. I could be mistaken, it was a long time ago.

Aladdin, Lion King and Little Mermaid.
Actually the only 3 I've seen on that list, but they're all great ones.

Voted for the Rescuers Down Under as a I liked it as a kid, but I'm not a fan of this period.

Not that there's necessarily anything wrong with Elton in general.

Aladdin - My favourite Disney movie.
Fox and the Hound - Just a simply beautiful and heartwrenching film.
Hercules - Criminally underrated.

I've always seen Lion King as good but not brilliant, although maybe that's not been helped by having to watch it about 6 times in a row when I was recovering from my hernia operation.

I'm fairly certain that's not a requirement of the treatment

You know you could have watched a different film when it ended right? you didn't just have to start it again?

I was staying at my Dads and my little sister who was 3 at the time was going through a Lion King phase. As soon as it ended she wanted it back on even if she wasn't watching it, if you tried to turn it over she'd get annoyed. :fp:
