I've really got into gin recently and love the stuff! Started off with the mediocre gordons, but came across hendricks, which i think is just awesome! Recently had bombay sapphire east and loved its slightly more mellow, sweeter taste.

Whats everyone elses favourite gin and how do you have it? Still traditional, with tonic water and ice for me.

Plymouth gin is really nice and I'm partial to a bit of Bombay sapphire.

Don't forget - never, ever, ever ruin your nice expensive gin with cheap schweppes tonic loaded with revolting sweeteners! The tonic is as important as the gin!

Exactly. Schweppes :dread:

Went on the master distiller course at the Plymouth agin distillery. Tasted a wide range of guns from all sorts of other companies and got to make my own batch up at the end based on the ingredients I wanted to put in. Went for a smooth taste with a spicey aftertaste :datass:

Fevertree is good. I quite like Fentimans but others don't. Even Britvic - it didn't used to have sweeteners in it but not sure now - is better than Schweppes. And Tescos do their own 'premium' tonic that is ok. You just have to try a few and find one you personally like.

Edit: just checked, Britvic has saccharin in it now.....

Discussing gin at 7:30 am, shocking!!

Fever Tree is easily the best tonic water. It's no surprise it's used in all the top bars.

I like Hendricks with a bit of cucumber. It's not overly a punchy gin but it is delicious none the less. Very refreshing.

Warner Edwards is also very nice. Exotic flavours and a nice burst of cardamon (but not like when you bite a pod in a curry). They also do a rhubarb one which is surprisingly tasty.

I tried Monkey 47 in Germany which was lovely. It's sadly about £45 for 70cl though so have never got it.

For reasonably priced ones I like Bombay Sapphire. They have a new one which is also nice, but not a huge difference if I remember. Granted I tried it an airport in a mini gin and tonic but still.

My parents cabinet has about 15 different types  They got a really nice one in Detroit actually. Two James gin. It has a snazzy bottle.

Im partial to Bombay Sapphire myself but I havent tried too many gins, I usually go with a whiskey if Im looking for spirits. G&T tends to only be consumed after a big dinner when Im full and need something refreshing.

Bombay Sapphire is my favourite spirit.

Hendricks is my favourite. Cocktail bar shaves cucumber slices and wraps them round the inside of the glass which looks awesome. I'm pretty new to the gin world and didn't realise the tonic water was such a big deal.

My sister bought me some rhubarb flavoured gin from Edinburgh for my birthday that is lovely. I'm not normally one for infused spirits but I'd definitely recommend this.

Another one for Bombay Sapphire here, got one from airport which was about 47%!

Tangerauy and Tangerauy No.10 are both really good. The latter I got as part of leaving present as its about £38 a bottle, amazing bottle and also strong as well being lovely. Usually murder quality gin with subpar mixer though need some decent recommendations other than lemonade or tonic.

Edinburgh Gin Company ??

I like to have a curl of lemon peel with mine rather than a slice - more aromatic and looks really cool in the glass too. I've also taken to having more tonic and ice with my gin than I used to; I've finally realisd that having it nearly neat is not necessarily the best way to enjoy it!

Only as a sampler measure at a show and not the Rhubarb and Ginger one - just a 'normal' gin. They also do an Elderflower one and a Raspberry Liqueur flavoured one.

Also tried some small batch stuff made by a north yorkshire distillery. Edit: Masons of Harrogate. If you go round these shows - it was RHS Tatton - trying all there is to try - beer, bread, cheese, sausages etc etc - you can pretty much fill up for nowt!!

I love Bombay Saphire myself and it's always on the shop shelves, but probably the best I've had is Sipsmith. Can be hard to find though so don't have it often.

And now I'm going to have a gin and tonic 8-)
