What are the opinions on Haymans gin and Sipsmiths gin?

Only gin I have had is Gordons, Bombay Sapphire and ALDI (someone had it at a house party  )

Had a Hendricks and Britvic tonic at the theatre last night, was bloody lovely.

Cucumber and juniper berries are all the rage these days, but I do just love a slice of lime

Pickering's Gin from Edinburgh is very nice. I had a tour on their distillery recently.

I love gin. A little too much, maybe.

I tend to pick up new gins when I see them, or try them at a bar (so long as they have Fever Tree). These are what I currently have on the go:

The Bombay Amber I bought from Toronto airport and later found out it was only sold there along with airports in Vegas, Singapore and Sydney. It's a good winter gin, as is Whitley Neill.

My favourite is still Tanqueray Ten. I rarely buy it as a bottle will only last me about a week.

What do you mean by a winter gin? Gin and tonic is very much a summer drink for me.

Very nice chilled, but an acquired taste. For me hendricks is the nicest, but i do need to give other ones a go like tanqueray and plymouth.

Scottish Gin has really come into popularity lately, in my work we have about three shelves of different stuff (which is a lot as we only stock a shelf or two of varying spirits aside from whisky which we have a full wall of). I mentioned Rock Rose earlier, but Daffy's gin has been a real popular seller recently, really high quality stuff.

Certain botanicals make a gin seem more wintery to me. Bombay Amber has nutmeg and is aged in vermouth barrels. Whitley Neill has Angelica root and sweet orange, I sometimes prefer it without tonic, just a slice of orange.

Scottish gin is huge all over the world. Tanqueray and Gordons are both produced in Scotland, and of the premium brands, Hendricks is definitely one of the most popular. I also really like The Botanist, which is distilled in (on?) Islay. I will definitely check out Daffy's next time I see it.

Hey Hexx. Usually we disagree on stuff, so I thought I'd hop in here and show my appreciation for this post, and my agreement with your statement.

I have, however, bookmarked this topic as my girlfriend loves gin and there's some decent present suggestions in here.

Turns out that in Cambridge there is a place that specialises in gin and does a daily gin and tonic. I asked the barman to recommend something based on me liking Hendrick's and I believe it was called Martin Miller's (I was a bit intoxicated at this point).

Bloody lovely, whatever it was.
