Audiosurf 2 (first is great but this is better)
Bridge Constructor (far more fun than it sounds)
Cogs (might depend how you feel about sliding-tile puzzles)
Eufloria HD (nice relaxing, simple RTS, looks lovely too)
Grim Dawn (Diablo style ARPG)
Hexcells (utterly superb and incredibly challenging puzzler)
The Impossible Game (lives up to its name, will induce many rage quits)
NEO Scavenger (AKA post apocalyptic hobo sim)
Paint it Back (Picross, need I say more)
Quell trilogy (nice relaxing puzzler)
Shadowrun Returns (Gritty cyberpunk/fantasy turn based strategy)
Shatter
Skulls of the Shogun
Sword of the Stars: The Pit (sci-fi rogue like, with permadeath)
Toki Tori (looks like a kids game but is fiendishly difficult, plays like Chuckie Egg)
Toki Tori 2 (as above but this one is a metroidvania type affair)

Anyone mentioned World of Goo yet? Cracking game. Top draw music. I played it on Wii but I imagine it's great on PC too. Thought of it as it's in that gog sale.

Frozen Synapse is also currently on sale, which I don't think anyone has mentioned.

Jade Empire's currently free on Origin, and is quite a big game, so not sure if that counts.

Here's another question about Steam. I'm currently playing using a USB N64 controller but some of the buttons are mapping to non-intuitive places on the pad by default (e.g. in Super Meat Boy, jump maps to the right C-button).

From what I can tell there's no way to adjust default button configurations within the Steam platform itself. Do I have this right or am I missing it?

If there isn't a way to adjust this in Steam; would I be right in thinking that whether or not button configuration is possible is game-specific and would be an available option within a game if offered?

All configs are game-specific - steam is just a wrapper to launch games from. Also why a usb N64 pad? Surely it doesn't have enough buttons for most modern games? Get a wired 360 pad; windows will detect and install proper drivers and loads of games know exactly what to do with it.

I've got four but they're all wireless.

Wired xbox 360 pads are about £25 everywhere - amazon, tesco, argos etc. and will last for ages. As I said before, windows has drivers for them and the overwhelming majority of games will detect them and have the relevant on-screen button prompts for them too. At this point getting anything else is pointless.

EDIT: in that case get a wireless receiver. I have one and it picks up wireless pads fine.

I don't think One Finger Death Punch has been mentioned yet but I'd definitely put it forward as one to try. The basic premise is that you get attacked from either the left and right by bad guys and you have to hit the buttons in time to attack them first but there is a little more to it than that.

Have you played any of the WadjetEye point & clicks? Gemini Rue and Resonance are both brilliant games with early 90's style pixel graphics.

The Blackwell series is also excellent. And Emerald City Confidential doesn't get a lot of mention but is a rather good little point and click as well.
