Oh man how did I forget Battlefront II. Me and a bro used to sit there for HOURS playing that game with some beers. Quality game, even if it was limited.

I would advise anyone who downloads RetroCade Episode 2, that you skip my thoughts on Rogue Leader :shifty:

Arcade Starfox-style flying/shooting .......................................................................................................................PC Sim-esque flying/shooting

See the huge gap? That's how different they are. And they're both great (except RS3).

Bullshit.

The Rogue Squadron games are nothing like Starfox.

Its true that RS is more of an arcade experience and X Wing more of a sim (although it isn't really), but they are both mission/objective based 3D flight games. This idea that theres a huge difference between them is a complete fallacy.

The difference is that one is truely great while the other isn't really.

I really liked the Rogue Squadron game released with the GC. I thought everyone did? :|

It was amazing at the time...but it was largely down to how it looked.

Its not that the game itself is really bad, but its not the great game people make out either.

I haven't played since the end of the GC's life (RIP) so I can't really agree or disagree. I just have find memories and always thought people thought highly of it. Quite disappointed with that tbh :(

X-Wing Vs Tie Fighter is still the single best Star Wars game ever made. It pisses on Rogue Squadron from a great height.

The Jedi Knight series comes a very close second, since it's "True Blue" Starwars.

KotOR is spinoff of a spinoff, and thus deserves no mention here ;)

I thought the Rogue Squadron games were really average to be honest. A lot of flashes and bangs but no substance.

Anyway, in order of personal preference:
- TIE Fighter
- Jedi Knight: Dark Forces II
- Dark Forces (Doom with Star Wars graphics yeah! 8-) )
- Jedi Knight II: Jedi Outcast
- X-Wing

Not played KotOR. :shifty:

So I've got ( :shifty: ) a copy of KotoR 1 for my MacBook. I've been really enjoying it so far and I've got to the part where you visit the Undercity (sp?) for the first time. But then it crashed and it won't start up at all now. Fun while it lasted though.

Kotor 1. Aside from that, I'd say you're looking at great levels rather than great games, e.g. the trench run in Rogue Squadron on Gamecube and the Hoth level in Shadows of the Empire N64

Hmm. Dark Forces 2 IS a bit horribly dated. The comical FMV is a point in it's favor though. It was also rather uniquely placed as an extension of the original movie material.

Jedi Outcast bettered DF2 if only in controls though. Remember that "switch to Force Jump and use it with the Use Force button" malarkey?

Shadows of the Empire was pretty strawberry floating incredible at the time, even if just for the Hoth level. Hoth had never been quite so vididly realised. Indeed, all you had was the Atari Empire Strikes Back vector game and it's anemic looking 2600 sibling.

 I love it! Brilliant.

For the record, I'm a big fan of the Rogue Squadron games. And the Super Star Wars games on SNES.

Here' a pointless query. I remember, last year a mate and I tried to play through Rogue Leader in co-op mode on III, and we encountered a problem: on the Bespin level there was only one craft (an A-wing) that either of us were allowed to select, meaning we couldn't actually play the level 'cos the other person couldn't select anything. :? Can anyone shed any light on what happened? It's entirely possible it was a result of some cheats I'd entered some time previously, as I definitely had a couple on (level select was on as we just moved to the next level, as was Millenium Falcon. And probably power-ups).

The old ones. None of the new ones have really come close to the awesome of the X-Wing games (X Wing Alliance especially  ) and the Jedi Knight games. Brilliant stuff. The boss fight from Jedi Knight 1 against the massive sith bloke and the tiny sith bloke was amaze. They need to re-release them somewhere. And you could choose to be either a Jedi or a Sith when they gave you the option to kill your lady friend! BRILLIANT.

Shadows of the Empire was also pretty swish.

Was it Rebel Assault that had you shooting down an AT-AT instead of doing the typical Snow Speeder harpoon cable around the legs?

I see your Atari Star Wars and counter with...

SEGA's Star Wars Arcade.

Played this in Blackpool one year. Absolutely strawberry floating IMMENSE. The audio atmosphere is spot on.
