+1 for a Fallout game I have no interest in. Sad times as I played 3 and 4 to platinum

PLAY | PS4: Red Dead Redemption 2 | PSVR Beat Saber | Switch Xenoblade Chronicles 2, Stardew Valley
WATCH | The Apprentice 2018, Suits S1, The Hunting of Hill House

But I do feel thst the momentum of the "76 is bad!" argument has grown out of proportion. The more negative (and I do recognise that there are negative aspects) videos on YouTube have been popular and the game is in danger of becoming a bit of a "meme". It feels like the launch of NMS; the game has been released a little too early and the style of game isn't what some people were expecting. In time I believe the game will be further expanded and improved but I fear the damage has been done.

Anyway, I will get the chance to continue my journey this afternoon and I'm interested to see what changes the first patch has brought.

I think at this point it's quite clear to see that Fallout 76 is a bag of gooseberry fool without having to actually play it. Its been universally panned by the press and gamers alike so I don't think "you have to play it to hold an opinion" holds much water at this point.

That said, I can see this turning for the worse again so I'm going to back out the thread for 5. :)

Stop liking gooseberry fool games ORKN! Every time you pay for stuff like this you're enabling the horrible behavior of certain publishers? WHY? Why reward bad practice? You don't even like it! You're just faking it to justify your money spent.

You're the worst. You're making it less likely we'll ever get a proper FO game ever again? Don't you want Nick and Taf to get Fallout 5? Why are you literally ripping it out of their hands and spitting in their faces with this shoddy dead end franchise path? This is just like what Hitler and Mussolini. You're scum and this place was better before you infected it

It's good you think it's ok not to like things, because we all loathe you.

(Ok?)

Nothing wrong with trusting in the majority consensus, but I don't think that stretches to calling anyone who is playing the game a complete pleb. Seems a weirdly impassioned stance for someone who hasn't played the game to take against someone who is enjoying it.

I wasn't talking about Nick, nor was i condoning his comment and taking sides, Orange. I was simply highlighting that at this point it's obviously not necessary to spend time with the game to understand it's a bit of a gooseberry fool show and to suggest otherwise is grasping given the outpouring of negativity directed at it. Unless of course all these gamers and reviews are lying, which obviously isn't the case. In fact I'm more inclined to believe the majority of opinions singing from the same hymn sheet regarding Fallout 76 than a handful of folk desperately defending it while continuing brush off any negativity thrown at the game as being unfair and out of proportion.

You're right, I have ABSOLUTELY NO intention of playing this game.

I don't need to play it, the agreed consensus is that the game is bad, it's been universally banned by critics, the people who get paid to test the games.

Anyone who puts their £50 on this instead of something like Red Dead 2, God of War, Monster Hunter World or Spider-man is a complete muppet.

Don't think that pic applies in this case. Fallout 76 is obviously a bit gooseberry fool. No faux rage for my part at least, more disappointment.

I suggested that most reviews would be [5]. I've said that there are problems and that some of these shouldn't exist in a sixty pound game. I've said that the damage is done. I suggested that a GRcadian holds off from purchasing this for a while and and instead enjoys his new Fallout 4 game.

But, because I also said that I've enjoyed playing so far and that I think there is potential here, which is - the horror! - different to most views, I'm "desperate" and "a pleb" .

There's a bunch of good new third person games out there too, and a load more from other genres.

It's been such a great year for gaming, there's so many great new games in every genre, why anyone would choose this over any of those is beyond me.

Depends on what you're judging as fair. It's unarguably not what most people want from a Fallout game, which is a valid criticism, but I also do think that colours people's judgment of the game in all other respects.

Personally I find the disparate reviews between 76 and F4 really odd because both fail pretty miserably at being RPGs compared to New Vegas and even F3, but I enjoy both for roughly the same reasons - the world exploration and base building, which I think are actually better so far on balance in 76. Any criticisms I have of 76 about not being my perfect "Fallout" game also apply to F4.

For me 76 takes the good parts of F4 and avoids its failings as an RPG by not being an RPG. My dream Fallout game would be a sequel in the style of New Vegas, and while 76 is very far from that I'm enjoying it for what it is - which perhaps crucially is also what I was expecting it to be.

Also lol @ Nick

EDIT: Also perhaps of interest to someone, I had my first crash last night, along with a bugged out terminal which meant I had to restart the game. So that's two game restarts in about 15 hours so far. Very frustrating, but actually not as bad as I was expecting

As it appears I'm going to get lynched, you've forced me to reveal that I am in fact the Bethesda Shill. It's a village power role that prevents me from being night killed but only if I adamantly defend Fallout 76.

I think Hexx is trying to get me lynched because he already tried and failed to kill me in the night. I think he is a wolf.

Lynch Hexx
