I'm really not interested in any of the post-Interplay Fallout content that has been released (3 and 4 were bad Fallout games IMO and New Vegas was just okay) so I'd much rather they put some effort into making a decent new entry to follow up on Skyrim.
Fallout 3 and 4 are basically elder Scrolls games set in the future, where magic is gone and guns have taken over.
Fallout 3 was one of my favourite gaming experiences ever, but it's hard to disagree with you.
New Vegas on the other hand was a genuinely great Fallout game.
I agree that 3 and 4 are basically Elder Scrolls games in a different setting, unfortunately they're based on the model of Elder Scrolls after it started to get stripped of anything interesting!
I'm being somewhat harsh in my judgement - 3 was fun enough once you accepted it really wasn't a Fallout game anymore, and NV is easily the best thing in the series since 2 (I've actually not played tactics cant say how that stands up!) - if we got something new on par with Vegas I'd be happy enough. Fallout 4 I still believe is just not a good game from pretty much any perspective!
