Somethings happening. The screen has gone blurry and they've taken away the props.

Fallout 3 is a weird one for me. Played the hell out of Oblivion so was naturally massively hyped for it. Loved it when it came out and must have put well over 100 hours into it and the DLC. Went to replay it a few years ago and found it really boring and it felt massively dated, I just couldn't be arsed. Felt the same with Fallout 4 as well and what I played of New Vegas. Skyrim is alright but I think I'm just really bored of Blethesda's style barely changing over 5 games.

Teaser trailer for Fallout 76.

The Vault-Tec terminal in the Citadel lists Vault 76 as a "control" vault, with 500 occupants. The vault was designed to open 20 years after a nuclear war, and was among the seventeen known control vaults, meaning that it was used as a baseline to compare to experimental vaults. It is also mentioned in one of the alien captive recorded logs (no.13) recorded by Giles Wolstencroft, a Vault-Tec official who was abducted while inspecting the vault's construction site. In Fallout 4, the newsreader in the prologue mentions Vault 76 debuting in 2076 in honor of America's tercentenary when discussing Vault-Tec's plans to expand.

Well they sure took their time.

Will almost certainly be buying it though.

I'm really not interested in any of the post-Interplay Fallout content that has been released (3 and 4 were bad Fallout games IMO and New Vegas was just okay) so I'd much rather they put some effort into making a decent new entry to follow up on Skyrim.

Fallout 3 and 4 are basically elder Scrolls games set in the future, where magic is gone and guns have taken over.

Fallout 3 was one of my favourite gaming experiences ever, but it's hard to disagree with you.

New Vegas on the other hand was a genuinely great Fallout game.

I agree that 3 and 4 are basically Elder Scrolls games in a different setting, unfortunately they're based on the model of Elder Scrolls after it started to get stripped of anything interesting!

I'm being somewhat harsh in my judgement - 3 was fun enough once you accepted it really wasn't a Fallout game anymore, and NV is easily the best thing in the series since 2 (I've actually not played tactics cant say how that stands up!) - if we got something new on par with Vegas I'd be happy enough. Fallout 4 I still believe is just not a good game from pretty much any perspective!

I didn't notice the online part.

Now i'm not so sure about it.

That said though, the whole Fallout London thing posted before turned out to be balls, so maybe this is too.

There's nowhere near enough information to make any sort of judgement about a purchase yet and I'm assuming if it's online that will mean the VAT's system will be out as I'm unsure how that could work with other players milling about.
I need to have more info but E3 is just over a week away and I'm sure we'll be bombarded with stuff then.

yeah Dark Souls is a special case though - i doubt ZeniMax will go along that route.

Who knows what route they'll go but for people seeing online and going 'I'm out', c'mon  Let's hear the facts first.

They haven't straight up said it's all going to be online.

I'm out.

Seriously though, I cannot think of a single online implementation for a Fallout game that I'd enjoy. Is it possible Bethesda are coming up with an innovative and immersive new type of online component that suits the game perfectly? Yes. Yes that is a possibility.

Is it more likely it's Fallout Royale?

Of course.
