Not a strawberry floating chance. Bethesda can't program for gooseberry fool. They don't seem to understand testing anything and lets be honest they are effectivley locking out the resource to fix all the issues they either can't fix due to ineptitude or won't fix due to laziness or greed (modders). Oh wait, modders be modding as the strawberry floating game is just Fallout 4 in almost every strawberry floating way.

So someone just posted this over on ResetEra,

Hey all, I picked up the power Armor Edition tonight for XB1, it’s not a patch but the game itself like with BO4. The disc was only 335 Mb or so and the rest was the the 50 Gb download.

Got the game early but servers aren’t active until the 14th.

Unverified at the moment but if true....holy gooseberry fool.

But that's the reason people choose to buy the physical copy... To bypass the slog of the download! :/

Really? Surely for most its just so they can sell on the game if they want to.

Particularly for a fully online game like this, I see absolutely no issue with having the disc basically just be a key for owning the game...although that being the case, it would have been nicer if that's what they'd actually done...although I guess that would mean people couldn't sell on their copies of the game.

Discs are pretty much redundant at this point, along with the argument that we'll never go fully digital until 5g broadband is standard across the country. The above, and plenty of other new titles released this generation, clearly show that these companies couldn't give a gooseberry fool if your internet is slow or not.

Alright, one of the reasons then.
For me it's the main reason.

60gb takes me an age to download (mixture of download speed and not being able to have the PlayStation on until the kids are in bed). So a 60gb download is enough to put me off buying a game in most cases.

Pendant mode activated: doesn't the PS4 download stuff in the background when on standby mode?

You've also got significant numbers of people still having to deal with monthly data caps that huge downloads like this can make massive dents in.

Only if you have psn+. Sony moved the goalposts on that feature. Shitheads.

According to their official site and the consoles settings. Maybe it changed again?

True, Laga, although I'd be surprised if many folk with an internet data cap play online-only games. I know that some will - I believe data caps are more prevalent in the States? - but, generally, any current gen games console is built around an online capability.

I'm not a fan of big patch downloads for disc versions - obviously, no-one is! And it's a factor in me no longer buying disc versions - but couldn't you set the patch downloading on the PS4 and just leave it (i.e. with the screen off), Lewis?

My missus is vehemently against leaving appliances on when they aren't needed. Which I suppose is fine in this day and age.

PlayStation not being used? It's off.. at the wall.

Bizarrely enough a few of us was having a bit of banter with one of the hospital electrical engineers a couple of weeks back, who incidentally is a gamer, and he told us that consoles, TV, blu-ray players etc barely register on your overall energy bills. In fact it's far more cost effective to leave them on standby mode when not in use than to keep shutting them down completely. Takes more juice to keep switching them on and off every time. Lights, electric fires and the like make up the brunt of your energy bills. Oh, and don't use a smart metre either as they're a con.

You may want to tell the missus she's not actually saving you any money.

But then why don’t you just put it in standby mode when it’s needed? I think once is going to be ok.

Pretty sure its the auto update feature that is PS+ only, you should be able to manually set a game updating and then put the console on standby and have it download the game...

...although I don't think its going to do anyone much good with this game, pretty sure you have to have PS+ to play.
