Loads of previews based upon actual gameplay are out there now; there's plenty of footage on YouTube.

I don't know what to think about it. I like the idea of a vast, open MMO-style wasteland... but the potential for griefers seems high and the added "survival" aspects just seem like they'll be frustrating rather than fun.

This was gonna be a game that I wanted to get but doing so feels like a bit of a gamble.

While Fallout 76 isn't on my immediate to buy list if it plays anything like Conan Exiles, but with more polish, then I'd be happy.

Are they going to be cleaning the vaults?

Just looks like a Fallout 4 multiplayer add on at full price tbh.

Should that be "Fallout 4 just looks like a Fallout 3 add on at full price and Fallout 76 just looks like a multiplayer add of that at full price". :slol:

After watching a few hours of video this game has dropped of my radar it looks really dull and I'm not sure if it's the videos I've seen but the textures looks over saturated and washed out.

You inspired me to watch some videos and the base building looks to have a ton more stuff than was available in 4 B)

In the NoClip doc Howard straight up states this is the case. They were playing around with ideas for MP during the development of F4 but nothing was prepared in time. Instead of adding it as DLC or an update, they continued to expand the concept and it became 76.

Just checked in on the gameplay videos and reactions... Yeah, this looks pretty bad.

I've watched a few "actual gameplay" videos of this and I'm still unsure. In an ideal world, you'd group up with friends / randoms and have a fine old time exploring the vast wilderness... but, in reality, you just know that half the players you meet are gonna shoot you, stand around dancing and just be complete bell-ends. The VATS targeting system seems very ill-suited to the "always moving" online environment, too.

But it's Fallout and so I'm still interested :| .

Which is why, when friends aren't available, I prefer those MMOs where you can just go off and do your own thing, almost single player like. ESO, Secret World and Conan being good examples.

I'm getting this from Boomerang so will try it but so far I have to say the hype hasn't been exactly overwhelming.

Hopefully Elder Scrolls 6 (when it finally gets released in 5 years) will be better.

I rarely buy new games but this gets released around the time of my birthday so I was planning on treating myself and picking a copy up but after having seen someone on YouTube reviewing the demo this morning I'm firmly on the fence about the game now. I think I'll wait for reviews to start coming in before I pick this up and will treat myself to Spider-Man instead.

Yeah, opinions seem to vary quite widely on this game, Salads. I think you gotta go into it knowing that is is different to what has gone before; the multiplayer focus does mean that things have changed. I've watched a number of vids and I, too, switch from "yay!" to "nay!" after each one  .

I think I'm still on for this, though. There are going to be issues but I believe Bethesda will put ongoing time into developing it... as an "always online" game, things are going to be pretty fluid. I reckon I'll take the gamble.

It's a ridiculous headline, plainly intentionally made to spark ridicule, but the point is solid. It's a lazy endgame mechanic that is not only inappropriate in a general context but also internally: it draws a line under what Fallout games used to be and what they have become.
