There are going to be some amazing retrospectives about this game in a year or two.
Pretty sure we've surpassed Driv3rgate at this point.

Not sure if this has been posted already but it really is one strawberry float up after another

Could be in serious trouble for data breach if those comments are to be believed

What are data protection laws like in the US? I imagine they're not quite as harsh as over here.

It's lucky this person has come forward and doesn't want to do anything malicious, though it's entirely possible this stuff has been going to other people as well.

Edit - Apparently it isn't just one person. Everyone who sends in a support ticket about the canvas bag is seeing every other support ticket.

Todd Howard's appearance at The Game Awards is certainly going to be something....

US law doesn't matter if EU peeps are on the same support system. It isn't about where you are based but about where your customers are. If EU peeps are there then they are going fall foul of gdpr rules for sure.

Well I'M enjoying my time with it

*shows picture of boring looking shed type construction with a chair and turret, with nothing of note anywhere to be seen in the screenshot*

*said construction disappears from server when logged out so nothing you do matters anyway*

That wasn't a Jawa dig, more that the entire internet seems to be doing it

Approaching 2 weeks since Jawa went scorched earth and fled into hiding, we haven't had any emergency broadcasts from his vault since :(

Yeah but sometimes a [4] is better than a [76]

If it's the case and they are using the same basic engine to make Elder Scrolls 6 then it's doomed years before it's even released.

They need to accept it's finished and create a whole new next gen system for Starfield and then Elder Scrolls 6 unless they want an absolute car crash and the game to look massively outdated.

'We're very sorry please don't sue us.'

This has got to be up there with Driveclub, even with the legendary strawberry float ups of old, now. An utter disaster.

At they've admitted they're at vault.

I feel attacked

I don't understand your issue with players' camps not being on a server when they're not logged in though, and that's coming from me who is weirdly into persistent browser games where your character is always on the server.

Surely it's more that, if someone else happens to be in your space when you log in, your entire settlement is packed away? That sort of intransigence completely defeats the point of the game mechanically and thematically.

So, like, whether the game will ever be fixed is one thing but I think this game has had one of the worst launch months in gaming history. Apart from the game itself it has the loot bag stuff and now customer information leaks. This must be knocking millions of Bethesda's worth financially speaking as up to now they've generally been seen as a solid publisher with a nice library of content.

I could be completely wrong here but wouldn't keeping a player and the settlement signed into the game at all times be an absolute nightmare?
Wouldn't you also be stuck with the same people who you initially signed in with as they also have to stay signed in to the same server?

How do other survival games handle this issue as I have zero experience with any of them?

They can just remake Skyrim again for next gen consoles and sell a few million of those :shifty: .

The latest patch (I believe) changed this so that you'll get notified and if you don't redeploy your CAMP elsewhere, when you change server it will still be in that spot as it was. Pre-patch it happened to me once so I lost my railway bridge base, which was disappointing, but I sort of appreciated not having to decide to pack away that base myself. Some spots are likely more popular than others, but the map is big enough and the server numbers low that it isn't a huge worry. The main fix that is needed now is an improvement to the finicky blueprint system, which in concept is good but is not a smooth experience.

Mechanically the game encourages the player to move their camp often, so that it is always nearby to the area of the map you're currently exploring. The slow progression of unlocking new construction plans works with this as each time you move your camp you have more options in rebuilding it.

Thematically there is a mismatch between the transience of camps and the stated goal of rebuilding the wasteland, although the main quest line does not focus on that goal so it isn't jarring in having attention drawn to it.

That said I would absolutely love to see whole camp location blueprints, multiple camps, and other camp improvements.

Ark Survival Evolved keeps all buildings server side. It means they can be destroyed by other players so you have to hide where it is and/or make it out of stone which takes ages to break down.

DayZ's recently added base buildings are kept server side too. Server side bases are handy as your mates can work on them when you can't and vice versa.
