They said that there would only be dozens of players together. I assume it isn't going to be too bad... I hope.

Couple dozen players in a map 4x larger than the Commonwealth should ensure a suitably isolated feel.

It's going to be like Ark I reckon. People will be able to wreck what you built when you're not online. :dread:

I'm a bit pessimistic over the whole multiplayer part of the game, as I worry they'll be constant nukes and idiots shooting you online.
But that being said it does look promising and I'm glad I can play it on my own, we'll have to wait and see.

They said you don't have a choice of server, so I don't think there will be persistent servers where your settlement remains after you stop playing.

What I don't understand is how it will handle 2 people having built in the same place. Maybe they won't be able to play together?

A great thread on why this game is such a bad idea:

I tried GTA online when it first launched. Completely ruins any atmosphere when you have idiots constantly attacking you, bouncing around in your face and doing weird celebratory dancing as you explore.

Online games are plagued by twats, no amount of server selection will rid you of those dickheads who take pleasure in ruining others experience.

Fallout should be tackled slowly, exploring and learning about the disaster by finding clues and enjoying the atmosphere.

This is the polar opposite of online. If they absolutely NEEDED online it should have been a seperate mode, why dilute the essence of Fallout to chase the latest trends.

I am apprehensive about this new direction that the game is taking... but I'm willing to "hear it out" as, at this moment, we know so little about it.

I'm not sure I follow the thinking of those tweets posted above; they seem to suggest the question "Why is Bethesda releasing games that have different approaches?" Which seems a bit odd; I wouldn't expect unrelated games to mirror the approach and styling of one another.

I think the person is looking into it too much, but fallout is about how Nuclear War is abhorrent and now Fallout is about let's make nuking things fun.

Those tweets are more about the fact that the idea of what Fallout was has been inverted completely due to the need to be fun and enticing in a consumerist marketplace. It's hard to argue against really. The original was literally about the horror of war and nuclear devestation and 76 lets you nuke your friends.

Not sure about it, need to read more about it.

Could be good. But I'm apprehensive. They need to make changes to the franchise, but I'm not sure this is it.

The first was made only a few years after the Cold War ended, and today's generation doesn't know the ever present fear of being nuked like our parents' generation did. Honestly, if we feared nukes now as older generations did, I think Fallout's tone would be very different, more like the originals.

You know what, since my Sexism in Games thread I think I've completely lost the ability to read the room. Due to the concerted shalacking I received back then I tend to read most contrary opinions as directly hostile.

Sorry  :simper:
