The first was made only a few years after the Cold War ended, and today's generation doesn't know the ever present fear of being nuked like our parents' generation did. Honestly, if we feared nukes now as older generations did, I think Fallout's tone would be very different, more like the originals.

Unless I missed something, nukes are still one of the main threats to human civilisation, so the message of the original Fallout is still relevant.

Do you live in perpetual fear that the world might be incinerated by nuclear fire before you see another sunrise? My parents would tell you that today feels nothing like the Cold War, or the dark days of the Cuban Missile Crisis, even though the risks are the same, and the US is headed up by a mad man.

The info i've seen seems to suggest the game is set in 2076, but how can that be when the great war didn't happen until 2077.

He did say there will still be quests and things through robots, terminals and found objects in the world.

I'm not sure I like it, but the idea of co-op Fallout is enough to keep me interested for now.

Oh yeah he also said there will be VATS, just that its real time VATS.

Hmm. I'm wary of saying "this isn't Fallout" as Fallout Tactics were vastly different from the main series. But still. This doesn't feel like Fallout anymore.

Wasn't Tactics hated though?

Yeah I think I'm out on this until it goes mega cheap, which sounds like it won't take very long at all.

I’m saying ‘out’ but I know what I’m like, I’ll still be having a go. Game world looks lovely, so stuff to do in it is worth a look as long as I’m not chased about by some pvp fanny rash.

They should've remade the isometric games with lush new visuals and made the combat better, then done up F3 and NV in F4's graphics.

Why aren't they doing this?

Actually surprised they didn't announce a Fallout card game tbh.

Watching the noclip doc and yup, the first thing Todd Howard says is "it's Fallout 4's multiplayer mode." They then confirm they thought about shipping it with F4 but it wasn't ready.

Urgh.

Obviously VATS is gone, in which case they'll have to improve the FPS stuff a tad.

Nah, ESO is still going strong and it's a follow up to Bethesda's biggest success ever (in sales).

In name alone it will be around for a while.
