It was thought the actor had appeared in some gay porn recently.

Really looked like him too ( :shifty: ) until they realised it wasn't him when they saw the tubby real pic

I think that looks great - they seem to have updated it sufficiently to make it relevant but based on the trailer and the information I've read it also seems they're being faithful enough to the original series.

Some of the casting has been fantastic too, Bryan Cranston as Zordon, Bill Hader as Alpha 5 and Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa. The five rangers are relative unknowns but I don't think that's a bad thing as long as they can act.

Power Rangers was my childhood so I'd be delighted if this turns out good, the signs are definitely promising.

Looks to me like they're trying to make it too serious, when really it's a pretty ridiculous concept that worked well originally because it was all so cheesy/over the top. It's the kind of thing I might watch on TV to see how they've done it compared to the TV series, but I can't really see people forking out to go and see a Power Rangers film.

Looks like it's trying to hard to hard to be dark and serious, when it should be the opposite. Doubt it'll be able to balance that kind of tone (if it's not just the trailer) with whatever the film becomes when there are Zords and massive strawberry float off monsters

Looks interesting, ive been following this since it was announced so its interesting to finally see a trailer for it.

I do echo the concerns about the serious vibe that's coming from it instead of the cheesy angle. They are clearly trying to appeal to the adults in their 20s and 30s who watched Power Rangers as a kid.

Personally i would have preferred that it was set in the original timeline and is just 20 years after the original series ended. Have the story that the original rangers disappeared and they find the old rangers layer, reactivate Alpha 5 etc.. You don't have to have any original rangers in it but just allow it to be in the same universe. Some of the original rangers could then appear in a sequel or at the very end of this film. Maybe only one hasn't disappeared, Tommy is the most likely one as he has reappeared in various incarnations of Power Rangers over the years.

There was talk that Bulk and Skull aren't in it, i assume because of the more seriousness nature of the film as they were always comic relief. I assume the ginger haired bully in the trailer wont be called bulk or skull.

One more thing, i've noticed a recent trend of calling some trailers teaser trailers when they are clearly just trailers, surely this is a full on trailer and not a teaser trailer at all? Teaser trailers used to be when they didn't show any actual film footage.

Looks like the Nolan power rangers compared to the Adam West 90s TV Show.

Colour me intrigued.

I think the problem with it being in the original timeline is that all the series since are based in that timeline and they'd end up having to try and keep the tone and feel appropriate for that so it definitely wouldn't appeal to the audience they're going for.

I initially had reservations about a more serious tone but like you say they're trying to appeal to adults who watched Power Rangers as a kid, I'm hoping there'll still be an element of fun to it. Tonally I hope its more akin to recent Marvel films than DC ones.

I thought the trailer looked pretty good. I'm cautiously optimistic about this.

I thought it looked like a sequel to Chronicle for the first 80% of the trailer.

You're not alone. I think if you like the Transformer movies then you'll probably like this

The suits look a little Iron Man like. Hopefully the CGI looks better in motion and in better lighting.

I like how they've given the women boobs in the suits instead of trying to flatten them down like in the to series.

True fact though, the yellow ranger was played by a man when in the suit as in the Japanese series the character was male.

That figure is waaaaay too red. There needs to be at least a bit of another colour in there.

I know he's the Red Ranger but bloody hell.
