Capcom has confirmed the development of Bionic Commando Rearmed 2, scheduled for release in Q1 2011 for Xbox LIVE Arcade and PSN.

The sequel to the acclaimed 2008 retro remake, Rearmed 2 will see the bionically enhanced Spencer facing off against his greatest challenge - he must prevent General Sabio, a new technologically sophisticated foe, from launching a deadly missile attack.

In addition to his trademark bionic grappling hook, Nathan Spencer has been given upgraded abilities to include a jump move.

Co-op play also returns, while we're promised improved visuals with the addition of more detailed character models, textures, and vibrant colours.

Looks good.

I enjoyed the original, but all the reviews could do was say 'no jump button, well this is gooseberry fool' and to be honest, there were many moments in the original were a jump button would have been appreciated. I for one am glad that rad has learnt how to use his knees.

But the concept of Bionic Commando is to use the grapple to navigate through the levels :|

That was only because the NES didn't have enough buttons to include jump. :shifty:

An arcade game designed with a NES port planned all along.

Seriously though, being able to climb over waist high objects I can dig, jumping though? Go play something that isn't Bionic Commando if you want to jump :x

Considering how good a job they did with Rearmed I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt when it comes to adding something like this.

He can't be much of a "Bionic" or a "Commando" if he can't jump. :shifty:

The thing is; will jump make it more fun? Probably.

I'm sure they went through extensive testing to ensure the jump was just right, as the video shows it's more of a short hop anyway, and it looks like it will be integrated into grapple use as much as to speed up the game. Don't get your knickers in a twist before you play the game.

:shock:

Rearmed took me aaaaages to beat. The last level is so bloody hard it's unbelievable and I left it for months, etc, but it's one of my favorite XBLA games.

Jump = A good thing.

Lack of GRIN is a bit worrying, but nevermind, I'm sure this'll be good. :wub:
