Well this isn't bad.

Up to the first Big Daddy fight - which kicked my arse.

Is there any reason to save, not harvest?...What's the Adam difference?

Differences:

If you decide to save girls, you'll get more Adam in long run & be able to pick up achievements if you're after achievements. Harvesting them does give you more per girl, but in end I find you get less Adam in total as saving girls in each amount will give you a gift - more Adam, and some tunics and all that stuff.

Also you got "goody good" ending which is okay but "dark" ending is better. I'd say play it twice, first save them & second run just harvest em.

The game was too monotonous to get through once!

I loved BioShock, one of my faves so far this gen. Apparently the lead designer of the Fort Frolic level (and Thief 3's Shalebridge Cradle level) is head of the team working on BioShock 2, which bodes well.

Actually;

You get slightly more ADAM if you kill the girls. I think it's literally 20 or 30 more by the end of the game.

I found the game very a to b. I didn't like the way the whole world feels like it's just one long tunnel and not an open interesting world to explore. Don't get me wrong, it's an amazing game but feels like it's all tunnels and not a huge, open underwater city.

I gave up after a while, got a bit boring. Fun while it lasted.

Fort Frolic was the highlight for me, it's downhill from there. :(

Hexx, make sure you download the free plasmids DLC from the Marketplace. You'll have access to one of the greatest (IMO) plasmids in the game. (Sonic Boom)

So much fun to be had once you've fully levelled up...

I still haven't played this game even though I can run it perfectly. Hopefully it's next to peanuts on Steam by now.

I was quite dissapointed by it. But I liked it enough to play through twice.

Is there any trick to killing a Big Daddy?

At the moment I die, res, shoot, die, repeat (any penalty for dying too?)

Really hated this, myself. Got a few hours into it before I got sick of it. "Go here, get this", piss off.

I usually zapped them with electricity and shot them with explosive bucks from my shotgun. Hacking turrets can be helpful too.
You can come back and deal with them when you're more powerful if you like.

No trick, you just keep attacking them until they die.

You'll be able to set up traps later on, but for now your only option is to keep attacking/dying until it dies.

Is there any penalty to me for dying/rezing? (Which was odd the first time it happened!)

As far as I remember you just have to use your weapons carefully, there are normally more things at your desposal than is initially clear.

By respawning rather than loading up a recent save, you don't regain any ammo, health packs etc that you may have used during the situation that brought about your death. You don't respawn with full health either, so if you respawn quite far from where you want to be and aren't equipped to heal yourself, there's a chance you'll die again before you get back which can be annoying.
There's a 100 points achievement for playing through the game on hard difficulty without respawning too.
I personally preferred to save often and reload when I died, so that I wasn't wasting equipment.

But the plus side of using the Vita Chambers is that any damage done to the Big Daddy remains, and you can carry on killing him where you left off.

When I started the game, I found the big sods so intimidating. Then, as I worked through it and realised that the Vita Chambers made things a lot easier, they became less scary. When I played through the second time, with the "no chambers" option switched on, they became more of a challenge again, and I had to play the game more strategically.

btw, first time I saved the Sisters, second time through I Killed 'Em All.
