PostBirmingham Christmas Markets Meet Up 2023!
by DarkRula » Mon Oct 16, 2023 3:09 pm

This went well last year, even if we barely spent any time at the Markets. Plenty of fun and some great food. So, why not run it again? I am, but this time I'm opening it up to any day that anyone can make rather than just Saturdays. The market is open from 2/November until Christmas Eve, so whatever is the most popular date for those who are planning to attend will be the set date for this to happen. I will keep selection of dates open until 2/November to allow people time to plan for coming into the city.

So, who wants to come visit some Christmas Markets?

Absolutely!

Places To Stay
Staying Cool at Rotunda: This aparthotel comes fully equipped with everything you could ever need for a stay in Birmingham. And bonus - it's right next to both the Bullring and the start of the Christmas Markets. And second bonus - that means it's very near to both Moor Street and New Street stations.

Premier Inn, Waterloo Street: Close to the other side of the Markets near Victoria Square, this Premier Inn is an affordable way to spend a night sleeping after exploring for the day. Pretty close to Snow Hill station, on the other side of Cathedral Square.

Hyatt Regency: A luxury hotel right by the canal and Centenary Square, this is a a great place to stay to access the Markets from the west side. Closest station is Snow Hill, though you will be going through the section of Markets at Victoria Square and Centenary Square to reach it.

I don't mind playing tour guide again, using Christmas amusement rides as landmarks

Places we could end up in/visit: (may have to book in advance for a few of these, but shouldn't be a problem if we know the numbers)

Lane7 - Bullring to Grand Central Link.
https://lane7.co.uk/venues/the-bullring/
Bowling, cocktails, darts and more

Boom Battle Bar - Broad Street/Five Ways
https://boombattlebar.com/uk/birmingham-five-ways/
Axe throwing, drinks and more!

Treetop Adventure Golf - Bullring
https://adventuregolf.com/
18 holes and 2 courses, with a bar to boot! I've been here with Rula before and we had a good laugh!

Sandbox VR - Grand Central
https://sandboxvr.com/birmingham/
New VR place opened up very recently! A variety of games to choose from!

Roxy Ballroom - Heath Mill Lane, Digbeth
https://roxyleisure.co.uk/location/birmingham-digbeth/
Ball games and booze!

The Red Brick Market - Floodgate Street, Digbeth
https://redbrickmarkets.co.uk/
A big warehouse full of mini stalls selling weird and wonderful stuff, from vintage clothes and plants, to spray paint and goth candles! Pretty sure there's a barbers in there too

GolfFang (formally Ghetto Golf) - Custard Factory, Digbeth
https://golffang.co.uk/
Crazy Golf, loads of neon and drinks too!

NQ64 - Custard Factory, Digbeth
https://nq64.co.uk/
Arcade Bar with a good amount of arcade games in! Signature gaming named cocktails too!

Of course as always there's the markets themselves and plenty of pubs and places to eat in and around brum too. These are just places that I've thought of from the top of my head (feel free to add suggestions!)

Really enjoyed this last year but not sure it'll work out for me this year with a lack of free weekends I'm afraid! The only three that are possible are Nov 18/19, Dec 2/3 and Dec 9/10, none of which I can guarantee. Plus two of those c-m already said he can't do

No worries. Enjoy London if you go.

It certainly was fun last year. No worries if you can't make it however. The Markets are always chaos in December (as we saw last year), so we might not want to touch that second weekend date. But it all depends on what everyone else is happy with.

So how did you get out of that second last one last year, hmm..? Hope we can get a date for you to come down, Ains. Would be fun.

Ten days to go until a slight extension of the deadline happens or a date will start to be finalised. Lookin' forward to it!

Y'know thinking about it, I'm already taking my niece to the theatre on the 17th of November, so l think I could get away with ditching the birthday festivities on the weekend if that ends up working better for everyone else!

Oh, yeah. Need to figure a date. Or just extend it, which I'm likely to do.

I've just found out that I can't make the 18th November due to a family commitment. Ant other date should be fine for me (I think)
