PostBit Socket (youtube channel, Podcast and TV show kind of)

I've been following the Bit Socket guys (Scott and Joe) for a while now which includes listening to their great podcast and watching their youtube content which is of a very high standard but i noticed they didn't have a massive amount of views for the youtube videos so i thought i would see if anyone else was aware of them on here. From doing a search on the forum i couldn't find any posts so i thought i'd create the topic to show you all what they do but also to gain more awareness of their quality output as i think there are sometimes some very good youtubers and podcasts that get ignored for the regular huge company stuff.

The Website:
http://www.bit-socket.com/

Twitter:
https://twitter.com/BitSocket

Podcast: This is roughly once every two weeks and has the usual what have you been playing segment but they also change up the schedule for the rest of the podcast with new segments such as review a game in five minutes, guess that gaming music and is it canon (a recent one about the starwing universe was brilliant) The podcast is a really good listen and is roughly an hour long and very funny.
http://www.bit-socket.com/podcast/

Youtube channel: the channel has a mixture of reviews, opinion segments and recently a couple of videos from EGX.
https://www.youtube.com/user/BitSocket

Some of my favs

The TV Pilot: Yep they recently did a TV pilot to hopefully get a series in Scotland as that is where they are based, again it was of a really high quality and standard and a lot more enjoyable than the kind of rubbish that seems to appear on challenge TV and way better than the kind of crap i had to put up with as a kid (except Gamesmaster with Dominic Diamond of course)

Anyway hope some of you might like this and find it interesting ,I just thought they deserved some good exposure.

Great OP, degoose.

Yeah, they seem like really good lads. They're likeable, they've got a good rapport, and they properly love games. Their enthusiasm is refreshing and infectious and I'm glad to see other people have taken notice of them. They should be much bigger than they are.

Cheers Rudder, as you say they are really enthusiastic about their gaming. I think what i also like is they aren't too cocky about their opinions so they just seem like genuinely nice guys. I'd heavily recommend the podcast as well to any newcomers. They only started it this year so are up to episode 11.

This is great. Ever since the 1Up Show finished I've found it difficult to find decent video shows about gaming. ChuckieDregs, as much as I love it is infrequent and can be quite hit and miss, and GiantBomb quicklooks are too long and meandering for me for the most part.

How they've only got 2500 subscribers, I don't know.

I've just been watching their EGX stuff, funnily enough. Their stuff's great, and the podcast is refreshingly different and often hilarious. Never mind Is It Canon, Is It Ganon pretty much ended me.

I'm not sure if anything came of it, but they made a pilot for a BitSocket BBC TV show a while ago that didn't stray too far from the formula. I'd love to see them have that kind of success.

Nice. Always on the lookout for a good youtube channel.

I'm also a big fan of gamesack, they're predominantly retro but they have great production and decent enough banter.

Really miss proper consolevania, but that pair seem to hate each other now. :(

 Is it Ganon was brilliant, i think an episode or two back they did the Canon one but as i said in the OP with Starwing. Some of the stuff that is actually true is crazy.

The few youtube vids I've watched are really good with great production, the Scottish accents add a certain charm too.

Hi, Joe from Bit Socket here.

I just wanted to say, I stumbled on this post after some drunken, depressed googling for "Bit Socket" and I just wanted to say thank you for such a nice, lovely post about Bit Socket.

It really means a lot to me to see people enjoy our podcast and videos. I often wish we got more views, but to be honest, if the people that do watch our stuff like it like you guys do, that makes me just as happy.

Thanks again,

Joe

I think I saw you as I was walking down Sauchiehall Street either today or yesterday. I stared deep into your eyes (not really).

I've never played a yakuza game before but it looks bloody bonkers.

What's weird is I've played all of them except 2 and I've never seen half that stuff.

There's a new podcast up too, although I'd go back and listen to last weeks if you haven't already. It contains a rendition of Snake Eater that has to be heard to be believed.
