I find it hard to imagine the mass market being strong for a film over 2.5 hours long.

I went to an Imax viewing and all I can say is it was needlessly loud.
I almost walked out at the start because it was that loud it was really bothering me.

Pretty awesome film. The visual aesthetic and music weren't as 'Blade Runner' as I'd hoped. Particularly the cityscapes just didn't have the same atmosphere or sense of scale as the original. I'm glad it did its own thing so well, though. And Roger Deakins is still a genius. Wish it didn't have so many 'flashback' scenes though. I remember that Drax said he'd witnessed a miracle. You don't have to to play it back to me two more times.

As some have said Jared Leto's character was gooseberry fool. I used to really like him as an actor, but ever since he started blinding himself and sending his co-stars dead rats in a lame attempt to be a super cool method actor his results have somewhat ironically gone downhill.

Loved it. What’s more it’s made me want to go back and revisit the original with a little more love.

Although it is a better film. IMO. Maybe enjoying this so much will make me a little less harsh on the original.

I'm not old I'm just not overly fond of needlessly loud cinemas.
I'm sure they've been set much louder than they used to be and it really isn't needed as the film should be able to stand on its own without such volume.

I can understand loud rock concerts as that's part of the allure but to me this noise level is a negative rather than a positive aspect.

There was also a trailer for Geostorm before the film which looked just as rubbish and just as essential a cinema visit as I was hoping for :slol: .
It's going to strawberry floating suck and I'm going to love every second :fp: .

When I saw Dunkirk in IMAX it seemed overly loud, too. I just thought that might have been deliberate (every gunshot sounded like it was in the room :dread: ) but if that's just the IMAX way I probably won't bother with it again....

Best film I've seen in a cinema since Fury Road. I thought it was fantastic

A colleague whom I respect and consider to be a very good engineer told me that this was one of the worst films he had ever seen.

It transpired that he thought it was a sequel to Blade  :fp:

I thought it was a wind up until he started going on about Wesley Snipes.

I thought it was brilliant, quite tempted to go see it for a second time which I think would be the first film I’ve ever done that for.

My missus also thought it was a Blade sequel. This is why I left her at home and went to see it with someone else. 8-)

Not entirely surprising.

Outside of internet circles, the original isn't some widely beloved master piece the public have been crying out for a sequel for.

The original bombed in America as well because they got a theatrical cut that by several accounts made no sense.

"It should be common sense to just accept the message Nintendo are sending out through their actions."

My thoughts:

Absolutely stunning visuals.
Compelling story, more so than the original i think.
Superb score.
Incredible atmosphere and world building.
Great performances by everyone, even Jared Leto.
Ana da Armas is perhaps the most stunning women in the world, achingly beautiful.
One of the best sequels ever made.

They did it
