Watched all three parts of this and it really made me want to rebuy Bloodbourne and attempt to complete it. Think I'd need someone with me though.

I was thinking of running a blood build since I already have a max Str and Dex on my main run and a second arcane build completed. But then I looked at the new weapon stats and the best weapon for Tinge is a C.

RIP Blood.

Guess I'll go balanced and see what weapons we get.

There's a video out there showing the first boss of the DLC. Oh my. We are born of the hype, made men by the hype.

Alright, so you have to beat Vicar Amelia to unlock the DLC. When I last left Bloodborne, I had just moved on to NG+, so I have a bit of work to do this evening.

This also means my first run through the DLC will be with NG+ scaling. :dread:

People on GAF are saying it's hard even at higher levels, but you never know with them. Not sure which character to use for this. I've got:

Main character in NG+ just after The One Reborn
Backup save on a USB stick of my main character in NG just before the final boss so I could get the three endings
New character just beaten Gazza.

DLC, like the main game, has been awarded Eurogamer's Essential award, too.

I'm in the same boat as you, although in actual fact I think I was relatively over-leveled towards the end of the main game as things seemed a bit easier. The DLC is supposedly similar to late-game stuff, so on NG+ it should be fairly brutal. :dread:

I've worked my way to the Cathedral Ward now so next boss will unlock the DLC.

I feel like I'm still a little powerful in that I can down the big guys in 3 swings, but I did die a few times at the bonfire, and once more at Gazza. I hit hard enough to stagger him with every swing, even in his beast form, but I just ran out of Stamina, so all my echoes are going in to Endurance now. I'm running around with 50 insight too, so I can see the Amygdala on the side of the cathedral and now the lantern dudes fire homing projectiles that kill in 2 hits. :dread:

I thought I could just run up the steps and fight the Vicar, but I can't remember how I unlocked the gates the first time around, so it looks like I'll be taking the long way around to get to it. Good to be back with Bloodborne, though. Forgot just how amazing the combat is.

You buy the key for the gate from the fountain in the Hunter's Dream.

I mean the other gate. In the area where the kidnapper guy is later on. It's locked by mechanical device and I can see a lever on the other side

You have to go through the big main Plaza with the two giants, then turn right at the bottom Cathedral Steps and the lever/other side of the gate is down that way.

Alternatively kill the Blood Starved Beast, go through the door on the right that unlocks in Oedon's chapel, fall to the bottom of the Church Workshop then ride the lift up to the area behind the gate.

Been levelling Skill and Bloodtinge on this playthrough. Rushed to Cainhurst to get the Chikage, but Logarius is literally impossible at the level I'm at. Hopefully I'll be strong enough once I've finished Old Hunters.

Glad I'm not doing this on my new character.

Started a new character and beat Cleric to shake the rust off, then Gascoigne and Amelia to unlock it.

Got to the main plaza (basically the second 'room') and realised I'm way out of my league. There's a reused enemy type from Old Yharnum hanging around that I used to guage my strength and it's taking too long to drop.

But from those two bits alone I'm hype as everything. That bit where you're fighting the OY beasts and the hunter with the fire hammer comes in, then you back up a bit and the other with the whip sword shows up so there's like 5 beasts, the hunters and you all fighting each other.

A VERY strong start. I'll probably clean up Hemwick or Old Yharnam before heading back in for the levels.

Done up to just after the first boss so far. The first area re-uses tons of environment assets which is a bit annoying. It's quite generous in giving you new weapons early on, I've got about 6 so far and upgraded that circular saw/mace thing up to +9.

Hard as strawberry float so far. I've been deliberately under-levelling myself so the main game didn't get too easy, but now starting to regret it. I finally made some decent progress, found the Fire Hammer then got blown to gooseberry fool on some cheesy booby trap. :|

I haven't had much difficulty with the hunters, but when that tentacle axe dude showed up, I got all kinds of strawberry floated. I'm level 111 on NG+ and it feels about right. The hunters are like normal early game enemies in that I can beat them really easily, but if a few show up at once or I let my concentration slip, it can go wrong fast.

Massive Tower of Latria vibes in the second area.

Latria 1 or Latria 2?

This is important as one of them is great and the other is terrible.
