I *did* have another go but I fell to the CB.

Okay, I'll take that break now. But I will beat it. I am starting to feel like the hunter 8-) .

I remember when Peter Crisp bought this and got frustrated, so he shareplayed it to me and I played from the start and beat the Cleric Beast for him.

I feel a sharpness returning to my actions. I have the belief that I can take down CB. It's such an awkward thing, though; there doesn't appear to be any regularity to it's actions. I have found that I've taken energy from it when I'm hacking away around it's feet. If it jumps up in the air then it's hard to avoid the pounce.

In my last battle it picked me up and threw me down. It looked pretty cool :slol: .

Are you actually paying attention to its attacks though? Or just getting caught in them when you're trying to attack it? There are usually tells.

You should be focusing on avoiding damage rather than dealing it. At such a low level you aren't going to have much damage output, so boss battles are going to hinge on how good you are at staying alive, as you're going to need the time to whittle its health down.

Later on your can make yourself more tanky. Or do what I did and make a glass cannon who can do stupid damage and has high stamina but doesn't last very long, leading to a frantic race to kill the boss before you get thwacked.

But your best bet before you pump your desired stat up is to learn how to dodge, learn a bosses attacks and learn how many hits you can get in before you get clobbered. Remember, just because you can get a hit in doesn't mean you should.

Failing that, you can grind the trolls and werewolves and increase your level a bit. As it was my first From Software game, I did this for a while to up my HP and stamina. I found the latter more useful as I progressed.

Oh Jesus, the nightmare area is much harder than I ever remember. The frenzy creatures are absolute hell. I think I'm gonna leave it for now and tackle the DLC.

Pressing up gives you additional ammo by spending your HP.

Thats if the camera is letting him see them.

I need to watch the beast and establish what those tells and movements are. So far I have just been rolling around and trying to whack it!

Parksey wrote:...learn how to dodge, learn a bosses attacks and learn how many hits you can get in before you get clobbered. Remember, just because you can get a hit in doesn't mean you should...

That"s a great point, Parksey - I have to establish when to attack and when to run / roll.

I may well spend a little time tackling the other beasts just to build up my tactics and movement skills.

The "nightmare area" sounds like it's something that will take me a while to reach, Tragic! Are you enjoying your journey through the game?

The Watching Artist wrote:...Thats if the camera is letting him see them...

Yeah, TWA - I'm finding that the camera can be tricky at times. When I front up the Cleric Beast it's sometimes hard to see what is going on!

Yes, I'm loving it, thank you Jawa. I'm finding a lot of things in the game that I missed on my first play through and I've been reading up on the lore as well.

It's cool to know that other GRcadian Hunters are walking the world of Bloodborne as well :-) .

I've found something a little odd. Okay... I start at at Central Yharnham and take the opened "short-cut" gate to the left, go down the steps and face the house(i.e. that grants you a short-cut to the main bridge). However, going down some steps next to the house you face up to two giants. If you either defeat them or run past them to the building behind them, there is a room hat yu can enter with a lever and a lift entrance. However, you can't operate the lever from this point. I wonder where you can operate it at the "other end" of the lift?

Strawberry-float! Back against the Cleric and he dealt some killing blows thorough part of the bridge wall that I was next to. I can see why TWA was raging about things like this! :x  .

Edit: CB. Dead again. Bloody hell.

Edit: Okay, this time I took quite chunk of its health - about half - but then I died amongst screeching and with it's crotch in my face. This game! :x  .

Edit: Run right out of blood vials, too. So now I've gotta go farm them from somewhere before facing up to CB again. Grrr.

Edit: Right, so there are six blokes that I can fight from the checkpoint (Central Yharnam lamp) to the Bridge. Duffed 'em up and NONE of them dropped any blood vials. So I'm still stuck on zero. Raaaaaargh!

Edit: Beat up all the goons again - included the big guy and the crows on the Bridge this time - and got a measly two Vials, which enabled me to last just a few moments against CB. Gonna take a break now... it's a cool game, though.

You're right Jawa. You've got to get to the "other end"to use it :)

i told you jawa, earlier: dont worry about attacking the first few times against a boss - just watch its attacks and practice dodging/avoiding them - its your chance to learn :)

I find the wolves often drop them. You can buy them from the messengers in the Hunter's Dream too, right?

Ah... and would the other end be accessible from somewhere in this stage or is this something for later on? :shifty: .

That's a good call, Faceman. I think the Cleric Beast is intimidating because of all the fur and screaming that grabs the attention when the battle is on!

Parksey wrote:I find the wolves often drop (blood vials). You can buy them from the messengers in the Hunter's Dream too, right?

Thanks, I may have to include the wolves in my run up to the Cleric, then :( :x . I had kinda forgotten about returning to the Dream and spending blood echoes. I've just been in a "run to CB, get beaten by CB" cycle.

I'm not gonna get a chance to be a Hunter today but I hope to later tomorrow.

I'm at level 130 now and I'm on the second to last chalice dungeon before I fight the Pthumerian Queen. Then I need to finish the DLC (got up to the fish man boss but he was so brutal) and then I'm on the home stretch. Very tempted to go for an NG+ but I might be worn out by the time I finish this game. Or I might just try and get through it as quickly at possible instead.

The second last chalice is the Defiled one? Good luck with that. Probably the hardest boss in the game in there. Didn't find the last chalice dungeon that hard to be honest. The Queen is easier than a lot of endgame main bosses (and the DLC stuff).
