So, I've never played a souls game as I heard how difficult they are. This game is looking really good, how easy would it be to get into this? Is it going to be as difficult as the previous titles?

I read somewhere that this is not going to be as punishing as Dark/Demon's Souls, but still as hard. Read into that what you will.
I completed Demon's Souls. It can be difficult to progress, but it is easy to get into. I did have Dark Souls but got to a point where progress was difficult so basically gave up. I will give this a go though.

That screenshot looks amazing, we're in the realms of playable concept art now.

edit: don't forget that the difficulty was toned down for the demo.

Looks pretty good and once the framerate has been optimised it will be one of the PS4's finest looking adventures. I do hope Dark Souls 1 and 2 get the remaster treatment though - now that would be amazing!

It's so beautiful

That Cleric Beast alone was probably more inspired than any of the bosses in DSII.

God, the art direction/atmosphere in this game is fantastic. Is it possible to have different classes in this?

I really want to love these games, but the combat still seems really slow and boring.

I've always considered the Demons/Dark Soul games to be almost a homage to a time long since passed where games were just less complicated, perhaps some would argue a more 'pure' experience. Unforgiving gameplay, little need to weigh the player down with a contrived story, or less emphasis on whizz-bang eye candy Michael Bay gooseberry fool for something more subtle, perhaps more...real, maybe.
Me personally, they don't appeal, but I can definitely see why they might.

I can understand the appeal of everything but the combat. It has little to no depth, and once you learn the pattern of an enemy it's really repetitive.
It's old school, but not in a good way. I really hope they make it more complex in Bloodborne.

It does that classic thing of making the player wait to make it seem like something is difficult or like they've done something worthwhile. You didn't. All you did was back off until the enemy missed their attack and then attacked them back.

The difficulty in most combat games comes from juggling battling multiple enemies at once. Hopefully they can push that a bit more in this game.

Really? Looks like a slightly better looking version of a high spec'd PC game to me. Nothing to get really excited about graphically, but maybe that's the colour palette and bleakness of it all.

I'll admit that whatever that boss was with all the physics based fur/branches on his back was relatively impressive, but the problem for me is that from a play area perspective its all just a prettier version of other games, small-medium sized play areas with connecting bits. The gameplay looked stale, the animations don't seem to be a step up.

It'd be nice for games like this with big melee weapons for them to actually do damage to models, rather than just spray some effect blood over the screen and the less said about the clipping the better. You'd think that they might be able to model physical reactions to objects hitting each other a bit better than they have before.

I'm not sure you can really say anything about how deep or interesting the gameplay will be based on that demo though, because it was obviously tuned so that it was a walkover, I'm not too worried about that, but like I said even if it is relatively deep or good fun to play, it doesn't make it anything new or exciting, which is kind of what I'd expect out of a game like this for the new generation.

Hmm, yes, I agree as well, shallow and pedantic.

Anyone else just get an email saying they've been selected for possible participation in the alpha?
