So played a bit more last night and not fancying the prospect of fighting Father Gascoigne again (particularly after discovering he transforms when down to a 3rd HP) thought I'd play on-line and summon an allie. So I storm in to his area, but can't ring the strawberry floating bell!

On next attempt, decide to wait outside his area and ring the bell there. Wait 3 minutes, no one turns up so think that maybe they will turn up when I enter the area. Of course, again no one turns up. :x

So just had to defeat him on my own. But my question is, where and how are you supposed to use the bell to get some help?

Yes?

You can't summon players during a boss fight. You have to do it before. The bell is blocked in all the boss arenas.

The new patch removed the "level proximity" requirements if you're using a password. I am therefore willing to offer my services to anyone that needs a hand. Just let me know when and where.

If you double check what I wrote, you will see on the 2nd attempt I did ring the bell prior to going in, but no one turned up. How long do you normally have to wait? Should I ring the bell and then go off and have dinner or something?

I can read perfectly well, thanks. You can't summon within the boss area. The second you step through the fog, you block anyone from joining you, even if you ring the Beckoning Bell beforehand, because the bell is blocked in the arena.

You wait outside until someone shows up. It varies on how long it takes (based on your network settings, level, location, and whether or not you used a password), but it can only be done before the fight. You'll know people can join because the bell icon won't have an X through it. Open the Network to Worldwide and patrol the level after you ring the Beckoning Bell to increase the chance of someone's Resonant Bell finding you (or invading you :toot: ).

Not really interested in some banana split invading me. Is there an option to just get people helping rather than hindering? Otherwise I'll go it alone...

The bell-ringing woman will only ring the Sinister Bell once someone has already joined you, and she doesn't appear at all when your level is low.

Ring without worry. When someone joins, you can make for the boss and cut off the chance of any invasion. There are times later on where the bell-ringing woman will appear without you ringing your Beckoning Bell, and that leaves you open to invasion until you find her and kill her. So it's pretty much unavoidable and you may as well get used to it.

The invaders are alright, though. I had about 10 in my whole playthrough, all in the hardest areas of the game, and I'd say 7 of them didn't initiate the fight until I indicated was ready. The last one came in at the start of the final area and let me work the whole way through it undisturbed and open the shortcut to the last non-endgame boss. Then we bowed at each other in front of the arena and had at it. It was epic as strawberry float. Fight lasted about 20 minutes, and it was probably my favourite moment in the whole game.

That's just made me realise that when I got invaded in NM that the invader backing up the stairs wasn't goading me but probably trying to help me along. Shame I just ran up and battered him :fp:

I ended up in Iosefka's Clinic last night after a wee tour round the Forbidden Woods.

I think I've missed something major as that was the first time I've met her and I found her on a table talking about being "chosen" and "feeling it inside her" . I figured that I had nothing left to lose at this point so took her out and got left with a rather icky umbilical cord section as a pick-up. I had no idea what was going on before and even less so now. Still, I found the invite to Cainhurst, so that's something!

On Iosefka:

That isn't Iosefka, she is a member of 'The Choir', a group of the church that make dealings with the Great Ones. She is attempting to transcend humanity to their level. Early on she kills the real doctor and turns her into a celestial kin (the one that drops her blood vial).

When you kill Rom and begin the Mensis ritual to birth the Nightmare Newborn a prophecy is fulfilled.

"When the paleblood moon hangs low in the sky a womb will be blessed with child."

She is one of the blessed. Chosen to be a surrogate to a Great One. There's another blessed character you can mmeet, not counting the mandatory one.

The umbilical cord is used for the secret ending. You need the full set.

Never played any of the Souls games but have both Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2 currently sitting on my shelf. Totally unsure which one to play first...seems most people seem to think that after having played Boodborne there is no going back to the Soul's combat system. Will a first play of Bloodborne spoil Dark Souls 2 for me?

Thought I'd ask here as I'm not sure if it's due to me being gooseberry fool or a combination of glitches causing my woes.

I seem to have a glitch where I can't store any quick silver bullets or blood vials If I have 20, put away 10, grind 10 to get back to 20. The stored 10 aren't there, so I'm stuck at 20. I've gotten all the way to blood starved beast, then gone back to cathedral ward and there's nothing extra to do. It's like the games stuck. I've read you can uninstall then reinstall the game and it might fix it. Anyone got any ideas?

Dark Souls 2 is thrash. The B-team game.

Play Bloodborne.

When you come in and out of the hunters dream, do your blood vials and bullets automatically replenish to 20? If not then it definitely sounds like a glitch. In regards to moving on, there's a boss in the church at the top of the stairs after cathedral ward, or you can go to the left or right of the church. If you've beat the boss you can also go to a door which you couldn't previously enter as you needed a password, to get there you have to go through the big circle plaza at the bottom of the church stairs, go through the archway and you'll find it after you fight the guy with the tentacle head.

My blood vials and bullets used to replenish to 20 but no longer do. I wonder if a patch stopped this? I'm also at the blood starved beast and have been unable to beat it. To the bloke above, have you beaten it and still nothing else to do?

Yes?

If you have stocks of over 20 then they'll replenish, if you have less than 20 they'll not replenish meaning you need some more. Any more than 20 your holding automatically go to your stocks in the dream, there's no need to ever go and take any out of stocks of either vials or bullets as those replenish upon death/warping.

Getting a bit fed up with this now. Stuck on the Blood Starved Beast, got it down to a quarter health once or twice but probably had something like 10 attempts. I then go on a "round" to get experience to level up, but the problem I have is that there is nothing new to explore so the game is becoming a bit of a chore. It would be better if I had a few other places to explore so at least levelling up would be a bit more enjoyable.

Experience? :?

Keep plugging at it, if you're there you can beat him as you are. Dodging attacks goes without saying but how are you using your weapons? If you use R1 it's a slightly lighter attack but far faster than R2, so you can dodge attack and dodge in the time a R2 dodge attack can take, which could be just the window for taking a hit from the boss.
