So was project beast essentially just the code name for this title? I honestly thought it was going to be announced as Demon Souls 2. The name doesn't matter I guess.

Dark Souls 2 is my favourite game at the moment, hoping this is good too.

Bit peeved no 'in-game' footage like the leaks we've had :( Still, more Dark Souls-esque games from, erm, FROM, are always welcome

I'm hoping this is more Dark Souls 2 than the actual Dark Souls 2

If we're starting a new thread for this, then could the Project BEAST thread be archived? Or maybe stick the leaked screens and webms in the OP?

If this is indeed by the Demon's and Dark Souls team then I'm not surprised it differs from the first two games as they must be sick of that formula.

Anyone else feel that a trailer like that tells you absolutely nothing about the game and is a complete waste of time?

Like most CGI trailers.

I don't usually watch them, then E3 comes along and a load of stuff about new games crops up on the sites and forums I usually lurk on, so I click a few links and am reminded why trailers are utterly pointless unless they show in game footage. You often can't tell that until you have already watched it though.

Bloodborne is the cover story of this week's Famitsu, and there's an interview with Miyazaki in it as well. Here are some details reported by a Japanese blog who got the magazine early.

- Spring 2015 release window
- They started work on this right after finishing Artorias of the Abyss, targeting Sony's new hardware
- The world and story is completely new, and the setting takes full advantage of the PS4's capabilities
- They're targeting 30fps at 1080p
- The keywords for the game is "blood" and "beast"
- There will be melee and long range weapons (guns) this time
- Character customization is confirmed
- There will be no map display in the game
- He wants combat to not just focus on action but also the strategic element
- The combat in the game is designed to feel like a life or death struggle
- There will be online elements of some sort, and it will involve players "discovering" together

Targeting Sony's new hardware

I still don't understand why this wasn't a multiplatform project that departed from the Demon's franchise. What's the reason for this remaining exclusive to Sony? Is it really a sequel to Demon's Souls?

They're targeting 30fps at 1080p

To get people to buy their console. Same as all exclusives really.

Maybe they needed a break from the Demon's/Dark formula. This allows them to do something slightly different, with Sony picking up the tab.

Let me rephrase that, why would From Software go from multiformat development to creating a game for one console? I'm sure that, despite the mixed reception of Dark Souls 2, Bloodborne would have been successful on the PC and X1, as well as the PS4.

I dunno.

Companies have done it before, I don't see the problem.

Because Sony are paying for it.
