I always find it funny what people do and don't struggle with in these games. I think it only took a couple of tries for me to beat him, but then I struggled with other bosses that people say are a breeze.

I've got a save on my ps4 that's primed to go for the platinum trophy, but I'm on some massive flaming dog chalice boss and I just couldn't beat it. Might have to go back and try again with more souls experience under my belt in the form of demons souls and elden ring since I last played it.

Yeah different builds and playstyles lead to really different experiences in terms of choke points in the games.

I don't remember too many bastard hard bits in Bloodborne. Orphan of Kos was a bit of a dick and Lady Maria put up a fight, but other than that I don't think there were too many complete arseholes.

Honestly the dlc is pissing me off more than the entire base game did at this point, I'm really struggling with all the patients or whatever in this area after Ludwig.

I managed to beat the game.by grinding one of the chalice dungeons, was easy 28k XP from memory and only took a few minutes.

Once I finished the game I kept playing through again and again. Up to new game is 4 or 5 I think. It's a remarkable game with a gothic atmosphere oppression.

Some of the bosses are pure evil though, second boss, a certain lady and a very angry orphan can all get to strawberry float. Second boss made me give up the game for a year before I was enticed back by YouTube videos of people playing and loving it.

Second boss?

The atmosphere is incredible, as is the level design. Mad how it always loops round.

Think the main boss in base game that gave me issues was those shadows, largely due to also having a shitty run back. Got killed a bunch of times till i summoned an NPC, then beat them first time with him en tow.

Found the footage from my fight. The absolute state of this, why am I constantly going for a really slow charge attack?! :fp: Could have done so much more damage by striking quickly.

Father Gascoigne, is the one I meant. I rage quit and was never going to return to the game. When I did I beat him in a few goes.

When I played the game I ran through a lot of the DLC avoiding everyone until I got the beast cutter and then I used that exclusively. Such a good weapon.

Imagine having to summon to beat Laurence

But yeah, looking back on my fight I too was guilty of trying to go for the slow attacks when I should have just nipped at him on occassion:

Evidently I wouldn't have needed a summon to distract had I realised there was a machine gun in the game! Wtf is that weapon?!

Gatling gun, pretty sure it's a weapon added in the DLC.

I think this is the only time I actually used it as well!

What level are yous both there? I've also been trying to use valtr to take his attention away.

That was a strong win jenuall, barely touched you. Your endurance level looks massive.

strawberry floating addictive this gooseberry fool eh, was driving me crazy yesterday but i just want to be done with work so I can try again today.

I'm still waiting on a 60fps patch or some kind of remaster before giving it another go, but the way things are going I'm not convinced we're ever going to get an official one

Not sure what level I would have been at that point, it was a long time ago now. I don't think I was over levelled or anything by this point though

I spent the entire strawberry floating day on the chalice watchdog and didn't beat it. Bloody defiled chalice :x

Got the bastard down to about a quarter health earlier. Feels a but more doable now I've learned the attack tells. I only died because I miss read one and got caught up in a big flame attack that I thought was going to just be a bite.

Beating Orphan of Kos is genuinely one of my greatest gaming achievements.

I've given up on this now. Absolutely loved the base game but the dlc was simply too hard for me, got up to lady maria but hadn't enjoyed the previous area and wasn't enjoying banging my head against the wall that was her. Just wasn't fun for me.

Went off and killed the proper final boss on my second attempt and thats me done with it. Overall a brilliant experience.

fair enough, id say the boss after Maria is generally regarded as the hardest, and the fishing village is awfully hard i think :dread:

Before you give up on that completely, look at my terrible fighting and see how easy she is to beat if you can get visceral attacks in:

I'd not used them at all up until that point and was getting nowhere in that fight, then did one by accident and realised it was pretty easy to stagger her. Went back for another go and got her like this a couple of tries later.
