Wow, so some of you 'got gud' people can help me on nightmare of mensis. Finally got past the spiders a few times, but scurried back to use uo my accumulated echoes as i couldn't see a lamp after those winged dog things.

Well, completed the main story line with a few people on online co-op. It was pretty satisying to get to the end!

I would say father gascoigne, rom and the early part of nightmare on mensis were the toughest parts of the game. My only criticism is that the game felt a bit too short, however i have been playing a lot since i bought it a month back, so it could just be me playing it too much over a short period of time. My favourite game this generation and look forward to playing the expansion. Now on to the witcher 3.

Nice one! There's more to the game than you probably realise, you've done a lot. Are you going to try the chalice dungeons?

Nearly had blood starved beast down earlier, definitely 'easier' with me controlling the camera, just need to learn his tells a bit more as a few attacks get me every time. Reminds me of manus with his move set.

May give the chalice dungeons a go later, but feel i am all bloodborned out. Definately more satisfying to play than dark souls and the controls are sublime as are the enemies and even the graphics are brilliant!

Probably wait until there is dlc before i head back into this. I have played this non stop for a month or so and it's been quite addictive! Thanks for all of the help from you guys. That and online co-op ensured i finished this game.

Would love the sequel to just be more of the same tbh, but with more variety.

Can someone give me some beginner's tips? Just started this and finding it frustrating. The minor grunts are no problem but anything other than this and there is no guarantee I'll get by without dieing. There was a guy I had to break through some barrels to find and attacked him but I get the feeling I wasn't supposed to. Ended up killing him but I think maybe he was a trader or had some importance. I think I've been round the whole of the first environment and had one run in with Father David or someone (who I assume is some kind of boss). Is there going to be a quick way of defeating him or am I going to have to boringly grind up?

Also, are there any additional weapons to find in the first environment? Found none so far. When levelling up, is there any attribute I should be picking so I can win battles quicker?

Git gud.

But in all seriousness, if you've made it to Father Gascoigne you're probably not doing too bad. There's a video at the bottom of the first post that's got some information in it you might have missed so that could be worth a look.

Took me a good few hours to get past the first section - it was really frustrating! Keep persisting and get some online co-op help if you need it!

Just encountered the clerical beast, must have missed it previously. Very surprised (and relieved) to kill it on the first meeting!

Good work. Always level up a bit in between sections and farm!

Just did Castle Cainhurst. Stumbled into the Martyr boss and beat him first time. What of it. :datass:

Nice one. As Sykes says, give the video in the OP a watch to get an idea of some of the basics. A lot of the extra stuff (new items and weapons) won't open up until later so it's a case of sticking at it. I think I was about 6 hours in before I even managed to level up!

Adding to the recent trend of "Call that a boss? Pfft.", I managed to beat Rom last night. It took me about 5 goes and I had more trouble from her minions than anything else. Being level 76 might have helped.

I want to try and find some of the other areas before progressing with the story. Any tips for finding Cainhurst and the like?

Also, there are now big Cthulhu looking things hanging around and they're giving me the willies.

New patch is live apparently, going to download shortly. Perfect for a day of chalice dungeons 8-)

Gimme dat 600 blood vials and bullets. Got me thinking on those, it's pretty much an admission that those two items should work on an estus system rather than being an item you collect. Sure, have them findable on corpses to stock them back up while in a level but you should really just start with the same stock every death/warp.

I was absolutely fuming

The longer version of that has me fighting a beast on that bit, I make it through the fight for that :fp:

Wet Nurse down. Still feeling a bit underleveled to be at the end game considering how most bosses seem capable of OHKOing me. Probably shouldn't have died so much and wasted echoes on more blood vials.
