Are you talking about the final boss, the true final boss or the FINAL boss?

The true boss. I've still got all the messages on PSN from Sok. Even though i wanted to work it out for myself he felt compelled to try and ruin it for me. :(

Started this two days ago and I'm enjoying it so far, although I personally think I've preferred Dark Souls despite not gotten far on that one. I just like the setting in Dark Souls more than Bloodborne, I guess but yeah, enjoying it. Just kinda worried I'd strawberry float up my character build but meh, managed to take down first two bosses, spent 10k seals on some kind of key and I'm hoping to make some progress as it'd be nice if I can actually beat these sort of games, but it'll be while. As of the weapons... so far I've been using starter axe one, mostly the trick version as I seem to do well with it than any other weapon so far so I slapped some +1 upgrades on it, not sure if they're in limited supply but oh well, I'd rather learn as I play the game than worrying about stuff and hoarding stuff.

I suck at the game as well. Think it took me like 7 or 8 attempts to beat second boss and that's with music box!

You should save your seals for the second half of the game with the water section.

I've only got as far as beating the Cleric Beast and haven't seen any new weapons

There are only about a dozen weapons in the game, not counting guns.

Most of them come from finding badges and then buying them but you find a couple just lying around. There's one in the sewers on the way to the Cleric Beast, for example, but you have to go out of your way and get to the rafters.

Edit: my bad, on the way to Gaskwang, not Cleric.

Is Gaskwang a penis Demon?

One of the weapon types is only found in one of the chalice dungeons but the vast majority you buy from the doll if memory serves.

Started the game again when that psn deal was up and have levelled up enough, so am ready to give the dlc a go. How would anyone find the new area without a guide?

Not easily, but the logic is there:
-Through progression you will most likely have found the tonsil stone and learned how to use it and about Amygdala.
-You'll see it takes you directly to a place called the Nightmare.
-You'll also see a couple of other Amygdalas that grab you, especially since the dlc one is guarding a very visible item.
-Reading the Eye of a Blood Drunk Hunter that you can't really miss when you return to the dream you see it's a ticket to another Nightmare.
-You would try being grabbed by one of the other 2 Amygdalas.

You're right, it's SUPER confusing and convoluted, but it's there.

Now, don't get me started on the Artorias dlc. Holy strawberry floating Jesus that was hard to work out.

I almost feel guilty replaying this game - its just such a joy to play. I prefer this to dark souls in all honesty, its just more fun to play.

Father Gascoigne can be a right bastard

One thing I did notice is that when you were stunning enemies with your gun, you were just hitting them with normal attacks. When they drop to their knee, if you hit R1 without pressing anything else (no directional buttons either so make sure you aren't moving forward when you press it), you hit them with a visceral attack that does massive damage.

Also, if you've picked up the Tiny Music Box you can use that to stun Gascoigne and also do a bit of damage. Best saved for his beast mode. You get it from one of the red lantern windows, just after climbing up a ladder from the sewers if I remember correctly.
