No you won't, you'll learn and learn and then laugh at how you found certain areas tough.

Oh and minor lantern related spoiler but theres only one in the main level (central yharnam). So don't make getting to the next one the be all and end all of your play as there isn't one until you defeat the boss, which is the 'end' of the level anyway.

Saying that:

Whilst there is only one lantern between you and the boss, you will unlock a few shortcuts that make getting about easier! The first level is pretty huge - or at least it feels that way when you have just started the game - so don't worry about progress, losing souls or immediately being a beast at the game, just do what I did and tentatively explore the area. If you can level up whilst doing this then you'll eventually get through fairly easily.

You don't lose souls, you lose blood echoes :simper:

But yes, the main point is unlocking shortcuts from the primary lamp. The sense of relief is amazing when you've been tentatively exploring for what seems like hours and then you open a door to see it lead back to the lamp. Then, if you die you just shortcut to that point.

How do i level up guys?

I can now see the frame pacing issue as well as the chromatic abbration or whatever its called in full effect. Looks decent overall, but i am sure the ps4 is capable of more.

Seems much more imaginative than dark souls 2.

Stop reading gaf moans about CA etc, the game looks fantastic. I've completed it and don't even know what frame pacing is.

You level up in the hunters dream, you'll get told when you've got the ability to do so, so you haven't unlocked it yet.

Oh and as with the souls series, don't worry about dying, it really doesn't matter. You'll get to where you were pretty quickly because you now know the layout anyway. I think I failed to get back to my bloodstain and retrieve my echoes no more than 5 times in about 50 hours.

Have you cleared the bonfire area yet? I found that area to be way harder than a lot of the stuff that immediately followed it.

Yep, but then died soon after at that massive beast banging the door. I had cleared that, but then died at the two big beasts later on and that is as far as i have got! I've got worse over time!

I kind of get how you stagger opponents with the gun, but timing is difficult. The game is amazing, but so hard. Will give it a proper go again tonight.

Are you playin online? If not I'd recommend it. There's plenty of messages around from other players, nearly all of which are helpful. For example the big troll that got you had a message nearby which said "oil is effective", so I thre oil at it, then a motov and it took a nice chunk of his health off. If you find a message was helpful, make sure to rate it so as it'll give the person who made it some health and help them out. I've got a few messages in the game which seem to regulary get me health each time I play, so make sure you leave a few about, be them helpful or just funny.

And git gud :datass:

It took me a few spawns there to notice the red lamp was on.

Before I ended the game I read up on things I may have missed and found there was only one side area I'd not found and one weapon, which was pretty good going but then I did explore every nook and cranny.

Eileen died on both my NG and arcane build run. So I hope my ng+ run goes significantly better.

I don't actually know what state my NPCs are in. I think they all turned in to beasts. I know the guy at the Central Yarnham lamp did, but every other one I talk to has either completely lost their strawberry floating mind and can't string two words together, or just growls and wretches through the door/window.

It's been about 10 hours gameplay time since I last came across an NPC that actually said something.

I think that's what happens after you defeat Rom.

Oh strawberry float off, there's not one person here who says that who actually means that, it's a meme that's from the souls series, everyone knows these are hard as strawberry float, nobody for one minute thinks telling someone to git gud is serious.

strawberry floating hell.

Oh yeah what an elitist prick I am, offering advice and signing it off with a joke. strawberry float off.

Sneak up behind the big fella and do a charge attack followed by a visceral. Or if you miss the follow up then run away behind the fountain and he'll go back to banging on the door. Rinse and repeat.

I will get into this properly tonight and try and complete one main area if I can!
