When you get the enemy to fall down using the gun parry or a fully charged R2 (hear the chime and grey mist) to their back. You hear a sound. When they're like that do a standard R1 attack right next to them and you'll punch through them and rip them apart.

That's the visceral. Deals crazy damage and heals 100% of your soft damage.

OK brill, thanks!

Is there a guide on how to play this apart from that video in the op?

Oh strawberry float off, there's not one person here who says that who actually means that, it's a meme that's from the souls series, everyone knows these are hard as strawberry float, nobody for one minute thinks telling someone to git gud is serious.

strawberry floating hell.

Oh yeah what an elitist prick I am, offering advice and signing it off with a joke. strawberry float off.[/quote]

I don't want to talk about it.

I'm going to finish this bad boy tonight. Oh yes.
Last boss is ready to go. Just got to get my pesky kids to sleep.

Tonight I've got a date with Vicar Amelia and a flamesprayer. Let's get it on.

Wish I'd thought of that! I ended up Saw Cleavering her to death.

Haven't been able to go back to it after my last session and I'm away on holiday all next week.

I'm really going to miss this

Almost beat Gehrman first go; he had half a centimetre of health left and then he went in the air for the first time in the fight and I didn't know what was coming. Died.
Eventually took 5 goes.
Spanked
Moon Presence
straight away after.

Absolutely amazing game. There's some nice stuff coming up to Xmas, but I fear everything might be a bit stale after this. Bigger, shinier, more explosive; whatever - nothing will demonstrate the beauty, wonder and exhilaration of Bloodborne.

Played more in the morning - made a bit more progress but retreated because i wanted to save my echoes to upgrade my equipment and armour as well as stock up on bullets, which i have stored.

This game requires a lot of dodges and initiative. In souls you patiently wait, whereas here you take the fight to the enemy - a nice change, but still getting to grips with it!

You can't upgrade armour so don't worry about saving up echoes just for that. Do upgrade your weapons whenever you can though as it makes a big difference, plus the more you upgrade it, the more slots open up to attach runes to boost damage etc.

At first I was intimidated by not being able to block, then I quickly forgot about not even having a shield and just dodging like a bastard.

So it turns out you can summon npcs to fight some bosses. Their summon locations are the messages that remind you that you can ring your bell. For example you summon Gascoigne from the Central lantern to fight Cleric beast.

I think there's one by BSB and I imagine that's Djura. Can't think of any others right now, though.

Edit: turns out it's Alfred which makes more sense.

I found the one by BSB and it was Alfred, he served as a nice distraction.

I meant weapons!

Dodging is a real artform in this game.

Other than those two though, are the others in the game? Towards the later bosses? I dont recall any. DS 2 seemed to have summon npcs outside almost every boss at times. (I belive this is changed again in scholar, i dont know though i havent played it) I guess using the bell for co-op later on is a reasonable replacement for it later, but it does seem to be a slightly abandoned mechanic after BSB.

Those are the only summons I'm aware off (I think you can summon Alfred for the Cleric Beast too). I did find it odd that they scaled right back on NPC summons and it's quite annoying given how poor the online summoning system can be and the amount of insight that's wasted.

Do you have it set to worldwide with no password? On my run through Cainhurst, a single beckoning bell fetched me a total of 5 co-op partners.

Know what boss I've found most tricky during the last 4-5 hours I've played?
Undead Giant in the Chalice Dungeons

strawberry floater one-shot me so many times.
Thinking about it, the change of approach I had to use - dart in, one hit, leg it out - probably helped with last boss proper when I faced him an hour or so after that bastard finally went down.

The version with the club and scythe and the ball & chains on his back is strawberry floating annoying.
