40 insight (or defeating Rom) just lets you see the huge nightmare creatures. They're always there, and will still attack. They're just invisible to you.

Oh gooseberry fool. Looking forward to that! Have held off using more insight after it made that cathedral section a real pain!

Ooooooooh. That's strawberry floating freaky but makes perfect sense now. I wondered what the strawberry float it was that grabbed me in the cathedral ward.

I was convinced more statues appeared around the ward the more insight I had, but I think it was just my imagination.

Did the forbidden woods - online player helped me out (showed me what to slash). Did what they said but got killed by the beast with bolts. Was a sad moment losing all of those blood echoes! Unlocked the shortcut and will do more.

Bloody snakes! Now i know what you guys mean!

Absolutely fantastic at times as it allows you to take a breather and even find areas you wouldn't usually find. You genuinely feel like you are being helped in this cruel world from software have developed for us.

The only issue is the constant framerate dips when playing and it can be annoying. In summary its a great idea, but not perfectly executed, largely due to the internet i guess!

Give it a try. Earning echoes without doing anything is nice!

Beat NG+ with Childhood's ending. Almost through my second NG build, too. I'll likely just skip Logarius altogether on it and plow through Mensis as I did him twice already. After that I'll be gunning for the last couple of chalices and I'll be done.

Until the dlc that opens that one trapdoor in Byrgenwerth...

Can someone explain chalice dungeons to me? Created my first last night and it was quite fun, if easy. Are they actually randomly generated or are they set designs I'm opening?

It's just the ones created with root chalices that are randomly generated.

Had the first ever point where I felt cheated by the game last night. Did the section to the right of the Cathedral, walked up to the door at the end and then instadeath :x. Did I miss something that would have indicated that was going to happen?

I think you should only do this once you have 40 insight.

I'd have a damn sight more insight if they refunded all I'd lost from the dropped connections earlier in the game.

I disagree, I think that's one of the great mystery things of the game, like a total no go area that you find and learn to avoid until you grt the tonsil stone and hinted to head there. I had the stone anyway he first time I went there so it helps, but didn't have 40 insight so I didn't know what was going on until I awoke in the lecture hall.

Love the mystery of all that, where the hell am I and how to I get out of here?

Actually with zero insight you're more likely to survive the attack because insight makes you more susceptible to Frenzy, and it's Frenzy that causes the bulk of the damage from that attack.

You shouldn't be going in that direction without either the Tonsil Stone or having beat Rom. With the former, you want it to attack you, but with the latter, you might just want to run through the door. It's an easily dodged attack, though.

Shadows of Yharnam...slaughtered. They only took me a couple of goes too so I was happy with that (probably my most successful boss encounter yet).

I popped in to Berggern Bregenwirt the next area and decided that getting insight sucked out the top of my head was a good reason to stop playing.

I'm going to go back to the Forbidden Woods and have a good wander around, maybe try out the first Chalice Dungeon.

It sounds like there are a few of us around the same point now, interesting that we're all approaching it differently. Part of the beauty of the game, I suppose!

How do we warp out back to the Hunters Dream? So many items I have I just don't know what they do. Beast Pellet? Whats that all about?

I just did the shadows too, but with some online co-op help! I will add you on PSN if you fancy teaming up on some sections - can we summon PSN Friends?
