I don't remember anything about Unseen Village being particularly hard, but Upper Cathedral Ward certainly had some moments for me.

Which part of UV are you at? The bit just past the large doors with the 3 praying bodies?

Unfortunately he didn't appear, as way back last year - when I was but an inexperienced whelp - I thought Eileen the Crow was an enemy so when I noticed her in Yharnam I sprinted in a blind panic, attacked her and promptly got killed. She hated me ever since.

Went back later and knocked her off the roof. It was a strained relationship.

Any idea how you got the NPC for the Shadow of Yarnham? I've tried to find out how to get him and it seems to be that hunter.

It may have been because I joined the covenant with the guy in the knight's helmet in the windmill.

Just working my way through the Nightmare Frontier. It's a bloody pain - a confusing layout, same environments with loads of jutting rocks that you get caught on, bouldering throwing giants and a mass of poisonous swamp I need to seemingly wade through. Managed to unlock the shortcut to get to the boss quicker though.

Also managed to beat the optional boss in Cathedral Ward, and unlock another straight after, which I have yet to beat.

Reckon I have maybe two optional and four mandatory bosses: Amygdala and Ebrietas and then Micolash, Mergo and the two final ones

Approaching the home stretch now, with just Mergo to beat before the final confrontation. Micolash was a weird boss, and not what I expected at all.

As I said before, I do feel like the last two areas - Nightmare of Mensis and Nightmare Frontier - are comfortably the worst areas in the game. Nightmare Frontier was confusing and filled with poisonous swamp, and Mensis seems a bit linear. Not a patch on the sprawling streets of Yharnam. Still, the game remains compelling nonetheless.

I bought the DLC last night too. Am I right in thinking I should play it before the final boss?

I would be looking at finishing it all before I go away on Wednesday morning, if it can be done.

I'm level 100 as well now. I've still been challenged at times, but no boss has really posed a problem since the BSB and Father Gascoigne. Wonder how I will come with the DLC bosses, which are meant to be a step up...

Yes, play it first.
Beating the final boss pushes you right into NG+.

Really? What did you like about it?

I'm only at the lamp just after Micolash so I can't comment on the whole thing, but it's quite linear and those small enemies aren't quite as satisfying to kill as some of the previous ones. Outside is just dark and dull (as well as tiny compared to other maps) and inside isn't really anything to write home about compared to what has gone before.

I also don't really understand the lore behind it so have no idea what is going on. It is about people who use the Mensis cages to communicate with the great ones but themselves trapped in some kind of hellish other dimension?

For me, Unseen Village captured the sense that madness had finally descended and the world was going to gooseberry fool. NOM just seems a bit flat in comparison.

I just finished Mergo's Wet Nurse and have done all the optional stuff I think. It wasn't long at all after the Micolash lamp - I managed to do it before going out tonight.

The Mergo fight was a good one though. My dodging was excellent if I do say so myself.

Only got the final confrontation and the DLC left to do.

Reading Parksey play through the game has made me want to give the DLC another try. I think I may need to start a new game though as on NG+ Ludwig was destroying me. Is there a recommended level for NG+ so I can see if I am underlevelled or just crap?

How are you finding the story and the lore Parksey? I loved the game and the atmosphere, but to be honest I didn't have a clue what was going on most of the time.

Not really. I know the bosses names due to reading the thread here, and had a general idea as to what order they appeared in (the mandatory ones at least). I did use a non-spoiler guide, but only for missable optional sections. I wouldn't have found Cainhurst, for example, without it. But once I was there I didn't read anything else. Merely what could be missable and make me have to playthrough the game again to experience.

DS3 I am going in completely blind.

Remember: DLC first as you get put straight into NG+.

I've long resigned myself to getting Platinum on all Souls games so my general go is play through it once, if I find it I find. I'll have a quick check if I know something is in the general area but can't find a specific thing, but otherwise completely blind.

After that, guide all the way because it's so easy to miss rings or spells or questlines etc. And you need to layer play throughs so you're getting a payoff to what you started in NG in NG+.

strawberry float doing that without a guide.

Christ the DLC is doing my head in, got to the
Fishing Hamlet
and the
Shark Giants
are total and utter bullshit. I actually think I'm over levelled as everything else in the level is really easy, but I just can't get the hang of those brutes. I'm considering forgetting the DLC, finishing the game and just trading it in. I think I'm too old for this level of frustration.

They can be banana splits. Just know when to parry them, and it's also quite easy to get behind them for a backstab/visceral. I managed to clear the two at the bottom of the ladder last night, despite them pissing me off for weeks.

I'm finding it hard to figure when exactly to counter them, I'm also finding it pretty hard to even get behind them as their attacks track so effectively. The unarmed ones are bad enough, but the armed ones; Christ!! I can't even summon any help, as it seems many have moved onto DS3....

What level are you, Samuel? I'm about level 107 and just finished Mergo - I am going to attempt the DLC when I get back from a trip abroad but worried that the difficulty will ramp up considerably.

I started the chalice dungeons as well. The first two depths were ridiculously easy but it's suddenly got a lot harder at Depth 3. Had to fight Rom again, and whereas in the main I got the rhythm of avoiding his AOE down, this time I keep messing up. He's not any harder, just I'm making stupid mistakes

Might need to co-op for depths 4-5, or do it during NG+ when I am a higher level.

It's telling that I want to continue NG+ straight away after I finish the main game, though by then my copy of Dark Souls may have arrived, or I might go back to Demon Soul's as I never got past the third level or so.

I'm 101 I think, the things I'm having trouble with just seem out of place in a level where everything else is quite easy, well, for Bloodborne.

I remember i beat the first one easily, and i thought they were push overs. Then they proceeded to strawberry float me eight ways from sunday every time i came up against them. Thankfully you can avoid most of them. Youre getting close tot he final boss now tho. So if you thought those guys gave you problems...

Yeah, I beat the one behind the house without too much trouble, then I climbed down that ladder  :dread: :x .
So, I'm near the final boss of the entire DLC, or just this section?
