Bombshell - Boris didn't want to scrap the Western extension, instead he wanted to re-work it, but became hamstrung by a promise he made in the election campaign.
He claims that TfL is exagerating the £70 million figure, but there is going to be a major dent in its finances - which will probably hinder public transport initiatives.
The BBC suggested that the consultation was a dangerous thing - it intended to favour the people who shout loudest. TfL's measure (a smaller sample - 2,000 - 41% voted to scrap it, 45% voted to keep it) is possibly more accurate.
He's also (unsurprisingly) getting a kicking from the Greens, who claim that his environmental policies are "little more than a charade" and Asthma UK who view the decision as "shortsighted".
Only the London Chamber of Commerce is happy, and they want the Westminster C-Zone to be scrapped as well.
What a balls up.
