That's pretty well done - imagine being the first person to have that encounter, super cool!

I have this on my laptop and haven't played it in probably over a year, but having it on console appeals to me MASSIVELY.

Cool! Always been intrigued by Elite, although it sounds like it could be either amazing or really boring. I will try the PS4 version.

Definitely interested and the continued murmurings of PSVR down the line mean I'll probably wait for a sale.

One of the few games that would be massivley beneficial with PSVR I reckon.

Surely PSVR is out of the question without a vast reduction in visuals

I've had this game on PC for what seems like years now. I have never made any progress in it at all. I bought into the Horizons update, too. I just can't figure out how to make any money. Whatever I try is doomed to failure and I always just give up after a while and forget about the game for another six months. By the time I come back it's had another large update and everything I knew about it has been forgotten.

Yes, it's always looked good to me, but just how do I actually make some cash and get started in the damn thing?

Not interested in combat, just a nice quiet life as a trader moving around the galaxy doing my own thing.

Well with this and eurotruck I just accept a life doomed to debt and breaking even most of the time so it's not all that different to real life really. ;)

Elite's not really 'a looker', a simple lower resolution would look ok I reckon.

As for making cash go to space stations/planet stations and take on the missions... most of them are cargo based, sure they may have a warning that you'll be randomly attacked for your loot but at the start that rarely happens.

It seems that the digital Commander Deluxe edition will be called the Legendary edition at retail:

I'm very unsure. I have fond memories of the original Elite and I dabbled with Frontier on the Amiga... but, in line with Cal's thoughts, I think I'd prefer wandering about the galaxy exploring and trading rather than fighting. I guess it's a case of sitting tight and waiting for some impressions to be reported.

There seems to be very little interest in this.... not much chat in GR and little in the media. It's launching on Tuesday for PS4!

I'm gonna hold back until I hear some impressions. I feel like No Man's Sky is enough for my "space exploration" itch... but Elite does have a huge amount of nostalgia for me.

I'll definitely be renting this, Jawa! Looking forward to it so much that, upon release of this, I'll have actually kept one of my rental slots on Boomerang clear for two weeks+. I just hope it isn't too dense to get into otherwise I fear I'll just give up on it.

Is it persistent universe accross PS4, PC and Xbone?

I like wandering around in the game, I just havedn't had my PC hooked up to my monitor for ages. And I have no idea what to do.

I don't have any of the expansions either.

Its a good game, with the Horizons expansion its even better. But its still a very niche game. Like really, there isn't very much excitement to it at all unless you get into being a pirate but the combat is so convoluted and on PC at least unless youre using a joystick you don't stand much of a chance. Other than that its essentially Euro Truck simulator but in space.

I don't believe the game offers cross-platform play, Gecko - each format has its own universe.

Guys, yeah, I've watched a few videos on YouTube and it does seem pretty complex. It's great that there is a huge amount of depth to the controls and a lot to learn, but it appears that there is very little in the way of guidance - you have to find out everything for yourself. Now that can be exciting... but also a little off-putting.

I like the idea of just wandering about and investigating things - it's what I do in No Man's Sky! I find the fighting in that to be something that frustrates and interrupts my exploration, so I would probably be cool with a chilled-out wander-a-than  . I'm hugely conflicted on getting this.

This is exactly my experience of it. It just doesn't respect your time - you can play for an entire evening and be worse off progress wise then if you'd not put it on at all :x

Incredible dogfighting in VR though with a HOTAS, but to that end i find the training missions more fun than the actual game because it puts you right in to the scenario you're playing for in the first place.

I believe the actual galaxy and allegiances are across PC and X1 but meeting other actual players is not possible on different platforms. No idea if it's the same situation on PS4 cos Sony are weird when it comes to anything cross platform.

It's a good game and the horizons stuff adds a lot. You can now have mates co pilots if ship is big enough and even ships that can launch smaller ships. I'm glad I have it, quite relaxing to travel about taking passengers and trading etc.
