I'm a weak man. I bought a custom paint job for my Sidewinder from the Frontier store (£2). 'Red Colorado'. All I need now is an in-game external camera to appreciate it with - although apparently all other players online can see it.

Still, quite nice.

strawberry floating online-only games. My connection has been having some issues lately where it drops for a couple of minutes every hour or so. Still haven't completed a trade mission because every time I seem to be in the final stretch, I lose connection to the servers and I'm booted out.

A good day today, mostly just consolidating my knowledge of the game/sim and getting better at both navigation and takeoff/landing protocols. I haven't explored a huge area yet - mainly been running maybe 7 star systems out in journeys of up to 3 jumps to lightspeed a piece. I took a detour into the Styx system - the Galaxy Map told me there was nothing of interest out there but I thought what the hell and went anyway - and came across a lonely waste disposal ship ploughing the silent depths in complete isolation. I buzzed it, flying up alongside (it was a pretty big ship compared to my little rustbucket) and the AI messaged me to say it had a license to be there and that he was carrying nothing of value. Basically, 'bugger off'.

As if I could have posed him any kind of threat.

Back in I Bootis Spaceport, replaced my two on-board pulse cannons with bought ones (previous pair were on loan, apparently) so now I have to save up all over again for the next ship ugrade.

Bradfield Orbital Spaceport (3 jumps out and not a single pirate attack on the way) - I had to drop off some medical supplies so I thought I'd take a nice picture as I came into the system from the direction of the local sun:

I replaced my ethernet drivers, and my disconnection problem seems to have gone. And now I've done a couple of successful runs! I've started some solo trading now too. When I pick up a mission, I'll study the trade routes I'll be passing through to see if there's anything I can bring for a profit, and I'm basically always running with a full cargo hold. The game is basically Galactic Truck Simulator at this point. I might stop here now, though. Combat is just too difficult with K&M that I wouldn't be able to defend myself if it came to it, and I can't take on half of the missions because they're bounties.

This sounds and looks amazing!

Hopefully my imac will be up to running it at native resolution.

Could my laptop run this?

I've got (and I'm quoting my "View your system info page"):

Windows 8.1
16GB of RAM
i7-4700MQ CPU @ 2.4GHz 2.4GHz (so I'm assuming dual-core?)
64-bit OPerating System, x64-based processor
NVIDIA GeForce GT755M

Not too good with all this tech stuff... :?

I've done several trading runs now and I've been 'interdicted' (an odd name for what is basically an attempted act of piracy) several times. My policy, given that my Sidewinder ship has two puny hardpoints and I'm no fighter ace, is to send power to shields, throttle up and wait until my light drive charges up again, then jump out of the area, back on course to where I was heading before I wa pulled out of light speed. So far it has worked every time; I've never fired a shot and I don't have any criminal record (nor any bounty against me). I just don't fight - I run. I don't know how long this strategy of non-engagement will last, but so far, so good.

I've been reading the ED Forums a bit and found a good thread on Interdictions. There's some discussion about having Authority ships announcing their intentions when they pull you from Supercruise. They were also talking about there currently being no penalty for not submitting to a scan, so the strategy you used Cal does seem to work for the moment.

Anyway I'm gonna start back up and try and make some more credits. Poppas gotta have himself an Eagle. :D

This is absolutely incredible with an Oculus Rift. Just being able to look around is cool, and you get a really strong sense of presence, but what surprised me most is the sense of scale it provides. Those space stations are bloody huge!

I'd kill to have an OR right now. This game seems absolutely perfect for it. :D

Did some more trading tonight, nothing terribly exciting happened, but I'm slowly working my way up to a new ship.

While I'm most likely to pick up and Eagle when I get the chance, I would also love a Hauler so I can start taking more than 4 of any given commodity. Increased cargo space means increased profits, means better ships quicker.

Decisions, decisions.

Tonight I travelled 7 star systems to Wyrd. It's out at the edge of the Beta map. I discovered a serene spaceport there, the Vonarburg Cooperative. Very pretty. Had to take a few pics before docking.

strawberry float mate, looks amazing. Imagine that with a (good) oculus rift, or 3 screens.

So I can't remember much about this game, is it singleplayer? What do you do in the game atm?
