Must admit I'd love to play this in VR. Don't think I could play it on PS4..

How much would a rig like that (capable of vr at that level) cost?

That bit when the lights came on above the spaceship :datass:

Are you permanently in free-look mode? How does this affect things that require a steady head like landing? I think I'd struggle with that :?

???

Please say you don't drive.

Not since I hit that Korean family, no.

So tempted to snap up one of those Thrustmaster flight sticks for the PS4 ahead of getting this (and in advance of getting Ace Combat 7 for VR too). Anyone have any experience with one on PS4 Elite?

I've not used one myself, but I can tell you using a hotas massively improves the game. You feel like you're flying something rather than playing something.

I love flying around those structures on my way to landing, also make a point of going 'upside down' whenever possible to make use of the other axes.

Does that make it queasy or are you so used to VR that you've gotten used to it? (I hear that can happen)

I suffer from really bad motion sickness but I'm so used to vr now that it doesn't bother me at All, especially in cockpits like elite or racing games, because they ground you to the environment and it makes sense.

Now standing up and then using a stick to move in a fps on the other hand, fuuuuuuck goodbye stomach contents.

It's such a shame cross platform play isn't a thing in this. Think how cool it would be meeting up somewhere.

Saw a while back that a load of players met at the centre of the universe, looked great.

If I get this then my entire aim will be to buy a Fer de Lance. They were so strawberry floating cool in the original Elite and 10 year old me wanted one so bad. No idea if you can actually get one or how much money they are though.

You can indeed get one, if you have 52m credits burning a hole in your pocket!

I guess that equates to an awful lot of playtime (or a chunk of actual money to skip it).

I don’t actually know if you can pay for in-game currency (haven’t seen it mentioned anywhere) but yes it would take a while to get that much money by regular means.

Hoping it may be added to X1/PC, Sony seem to be weird about it.

Upgraded to an ASP explorer! Cost a bomb and I have no cash left to upgrade it yet but it's one for the future! I'm trying my hand at Taxi missions now, long but profitable!

I’ve hit 1.5m credits in my Cobra, such a profitable little machine

Kitted it out with some decent weapons and armour, just in case anyone wants to try and steal my cargo

I also cracked a million today :toot:

1.5 seems like a good spot to also buy some better bits. Been having some cargo missions offer bonuses for taking out pirates on the way so it would be nice to have better systems in place for when I get attacked.

Would also be good to have a dedicated combat ship, find an area with high conflict and bounties, then do a bit of bounty hunting without risking the cobra. Will need serious combat training before that though as I'd be gooseberry fool if I tried a dogfight now.

Picked this up on PC today. So far not really that impressed, obviously one day isn't anywhere near enough time to digest a game of this scope so I'll put in more hours on it. Does come across as tedious though, landing, planets are basically blank canvasses, missions are mostly go fetch quests.

Just hope it isn't yet another empty sandbox game.

Im sorry but that is pretty much the meat of the game unless you really get into PVP or PVE. Its an incredibly immersive bunch of fetch quests in outer space. Its like Euro Truck Sim, you pretty much just do a couple of things over and over to make money to buy more expensive ships to do the same thing over and over. Its fun for maybe the first 10 hours or so as you slowly get to grips with flying and stuff but once the initial wow factor wears off its a super, super boring game. Oh and theres some absolutely impenetrable crafting gooseberry fool too, but i think you need some kind of degree to figure out how that works. Its not a BAD game, like you can put it on and chill the strawberry float out but yeah dont expect to be doing much more than fetch quests. Pro tip: Dont even bother with mining, good god i did that once and it was the most tedious gooseberry fool ive ever done in a game.

I was quite keen on mining but this thread has put me off, I'll keep being a Fedex dude then with the occasional bounty hunting thrown in.
