I've paid out for VoiceAttack too, which is brilliant if you don't want to learn too many button shortcuts. I'm planning on playing with the Oculus Rift, and figured it would solve the problem of hunting around for buttons I can't see. Even without the rift, it feels awesome to be able to manage power, targeting and stuff with voice commands. It suits the game so well!

Ive seen that stick recommended. Think ill get it. also think ill get an expansion at the end of the month. Ive seen a video of that voice thing in the game didnt know what is was but looked really cool so ill defo get that

The expansion pass is being taken off the store at the end of the month (July 29th), so I wouldn't hang about too long if you want it.

You don't have to have a stick at all. It apparently works great with a 360 pad (David Braben's input of choice, apparently), and plenty of people seem to be managing with a keyboard and mouse. HOTAS all the way for me though!

It's still a beta obviously and has a few bugs and the odd crash, but it's still ace. I love how involved everything is, meaning that you're never left twiddling your thumbs on autopilot like in the X games. It's great!

Also the game was improved immeasurably when I added an "Engage!" voice command for hyperspace. 8-)

I've played a wee bit of it today as well. It's pretty lovely. It all feels suitably sci-fi as well. Only played with M&K so far but I'll give my 360 pad a shot tomorrow probably. Controls were fairly simple as well, once you figure out a few things. I really like that the left and right interface panels only become active when you're facing them.

I love the way the Hyperdrive works. Lock target, orient to face it, charge drive, throttle up and just go for it. Nothing earth shattering but it all feels absolutely right.

It's completely, 100% sold me on Oculus Rift as well. This game will be amazing with it.

Speaking of Voice Attack, there are certain commands you maybe don't want to bind, especially while streaming.

Played a little of this. After my first couple of goes (mouse and keyboard control) ended in disaster (crashing trying to dock at the opening spacestation) I switched to the 360 pad which i'm finding much better. After watching a docking tutorial, have managed to dock, buy some stuff, warp to another stations, dock and sell stuff for profit a few times. Not done any combat stuff yet, though I did get attacked at one point which was quite tense, managed to warp away at the last second (a missile was a second away from hitting me) - waiting for the drive to charge whilst trying to evade the attacker was tense as hell but felt quite satisfying when managed to zip away from trouble then get repaired at a nearby space station.

You are right you can play it with a pad or kb but the moves you can pull off with a hotas are something else. Game was made for a rift wish I had one. If anyone wants to add me its just my name without the space. I need to figure out how to be more efficient at trading I think!

Played for about an hour and a half tonight. Really beginning to get to grips with this a bit more. Supercruise makes sense and I know how to work it now. Started using my 360 pad instead of M&KB and it was much better (Not that M&KB was bad). It is extremely open ended so far. Pretty much just dropped in and left to get on with it.

While I'm waiting for the youtube export to go live, here's the twitch stream of my playthrough. At one point I spend ten minutes dogfighting with a pirate who eventually gets chased off by an Authority ship as I just can't seem to finish him off (58:45 onwards). :fp:

Anyone tried the price tracker?gonna admit im using it....helps a lot especially in the early game although some people think its cheating. Personally i think its perfectly resonable

I used it briefly, but now I just use the galaxy map. The app is handy but makes trading feel a bit rote, while the map gives you more of that tactile, analogue feel the game is so good at delivering.

I took the plunge today - £50! :dread: Still, the good news is it appears to run fine at 'High' on my PC, the bad news is that this is going to take me ages to get to grips with. But I think that's why I paid such a ridiculous price for the Beta; I want a space sim with depth and detail. I'm thinking about Star Citizen, too, but not yet. For the moment I'm going to take a long while to just explore Elite: Dangerous. Looking forward now to seeing how the game expands and patches over the next months.

It sure looks pretty! It even works with a 360 controller.

It's currently £35 to pre-order, but I'm not sure if that'll change when it releases. £50 gets you in to it now.

I've really enjoyed it so far. I absolutely suck at the combat, but I'm putting that down to needing practise. Trying to slowly save money for a better ship, but it's tough going at the start. :D

My X52 Pro is en-route, and my Oculus Rift DK2 is on preorder. Going to pick this up after work and get it set up before the HOTAS arrives. It's going to be the strawberry floating bees knees.

Sucks, as I would really like to get it now, but just can't warrant £50!

Is the Oculuc Rift DK2 HD? Have you got a date on when you will recieve it, Jiggles?

Just looking at the X52 Pro, and it's expensive but looks alot more reasonably priced than some of the others I've seen. Does it have proper force feedback do you know? i.e Active Feedback directed by what is going on in the game etc?
