I do, actually; and I feel the same about ex-politicians who earn stupid sums going around doing lectures when real academic lecturers get paid a fraction of what they're worth to society. A certain amount of wealth accumulated through competing or acting or singing or whatever is fine, but I don't think anybody in that aristocratic tier of society should get the hundreds of thousands or millions they might get just for one sparkly appearance.

So you believe in the government setting maximum wages for private businesses? :dread:

What do you do on Saturdays if you don't watch football? :?

Thought it was the sissy ladyboys who like football?

Real men like rugby and boxing etc.

I understand people not liking football and the whole culture of it, as well as the massive amounts of money footballers are paid. The arrogance and snobbery of some people in this thread though, it's like you guys think everybody who follow football is an idiot and that you're a better person than them or something.

And that's not even mentioning the fact that they don't seem to know what they're talking about. What do you think the solution is, everyone in the world boycott paying to watch the sport?

Not really, although I'm not sure what incentives you could really use to cap wages without actually capping them. A guaranteed minimum income for the poor would be nice, though, but that's not related to this.

So you think people should not be allowed to earn millions but you don't believe the government should stop them either.

A well thought out argument then.

I'm also a hippy socialist and I think that salaries should be capped, probably through corporation tax being linked to the highest salaries / bonuses.

I thought the same, but there's a difference between a minimum wage and a minimum income.

No. Anyone earning under a threshold income gets the money that brings them up to that mark every year, from the government. Everyone earning over that sum pays a single flat tax on their income. Maybe it'd make me feel better about high earners.

But as I said, that's not related to my half-baked, frankly rickety idea that somehow silly high wages should be prevented by means other than arbitrary wage caps.

In terms of productivity, that doesn't sound very good for the economy

Why did a socialist like yourself move to the capital of inequality and capitalism (USA)? :slol:

Love. Yeah that's right, love.

That has got to be the gayest thing I've read on here in ages.
This was mentioned in the football thread a while ago, take your discussion regarding all this over there.
Or rather, don't. For the love of God, don't.
