Some Brexit supporting ministers still don’t even understand what leaving means.

Not sure if this twitter thread has been posted before but if not, then it represents the single most accurate portrayal of Britain I've ever read.

Because we are Britain and Japan should stop bullying us!

Don't they want to sell BMWs and Mercedes Nissans and Toyotas?

I get confused by things like this. So when would this travel visa apply? Obviously in the event of no deal it would be after March 30th but if we agree this proposal and enter the interim period I assume it won’t apply then as I thought we were supposed to be out of the eu technically but still paying in for this period with all the same rights and access. I assume if the backstop is used then it may apply there. However if a free trade deal is agreed then we have no idea what would be involved in that.

No Deal = 7 Euro charge
May’s Deal = 7 Euro charge
Interim period/Extension = No charge (until end of period/extension)
Norway Deal = No charge
No Brexit = No charge

Thanks. That’s what I was getting at. Gets confusing at times.

Because many Leavers/Brexitters fundamentally view it wrong. We're leaving, but we can to choose which bits we want to keep. (They also view the referendum as us "winning" over the EU, so we should get to dictate terms to a defeated opponent)

They don't understand it's the end of one relationship and the negotiation/set up of a entire new and seperate one.

How have the EU humiliated May? She is humiliating herself by demanding things that she damn well knows she can't have.

Definitely getting the impression that the EU are starting to get a bit fed up with all this.

Can't blame them really. To me they've been remarkably restrained in their comments throughout this whole mess.

Can you blame them?

Their attitude has probably hardened now that the UK have the card available to just cancel all of this on a moment's notice.

The arrogance of the British politicians cant be helping either. Constantly saying that Ireland should know its place, should leave as well, the border is a non issue etc would be rubbing people up the wrong way. EU has been clear from the outset of this that they are united in this, if 1 country is unhappy then theyre all unhappy. Standing up to May is also a nice way to show how being in the EU means you have the backing and support of everyone.

Clearly that £350M a week wasn't being spent on decor!

It is ugly as strawberry float though, there's no escaping that. The odd juxtaposition between the bright and colourful floor and ceiling and the dullness of everything in between is just really jarring.

Hasn't the UK always had that card?

Yes, but it was only legally cemented by the ECJ in the last week or two. Before that it was ambiguous whether the UK could revoke unilaterally or not.

The amazing thing is that May has actually made the deal worse by going over. The language around the backstop has actually hardened rather than being softened like she wanted.
