Sorry if this has already been covered.

What can they ban next?

I'm all for tackling the youth drinking culture, but they should leave the adults alone.

Maybe if the country wasn't such a depressing shithole ran by dingle berries we wouldn't have a need to drown our sorrows.

But I bet they'd give it a go, perhaps some kind of extreme 'taste' law.

Being the National Dance it might offend someone visiting us just like the Union Jack is sometimes seen as offensive.

What i don't get is how are they going to enforce this? My dad has 2 bars, on different days he has different prices. A thursday is cheaper and there are all sorts of offers. Does this mean that he has to scrap this as well?

The Government and the health Nazis seem to think that this will cut down on people drinking. Of course they are wrong as the reason for people going out binge drinking is nothing to do with the price. It doesn’t matter if it is £2 a pint or £4 a pint, people will still pay it and people will still get gooseberry fool faced.

There is of course a point where people would not pay for alcohol but raising it high enough to stop people would only result in every pub in the country shutting down and France and Spain making huge sums of money from us as we buy from the white van men (like with cigarettes).

I said a long time ago, when the health nazis were still spreading their poisonous anti-smoking propaganda on TV, that once they'd finished with us smokers they'll come for you drinkers. And they will...

But don't just blame the government: look, rather, at advocacy groups with a vested interest in sh*t-stirring around the subject. This is always where the trouble comes from - because, as the impending porn laws illustrate all too clearly - the government 'takes advice' from advocates with an axe to grind and includes their 'suggestions' in their white papers. And before you know it, it's become law.

So, having nobbled smokers and reduced them to the social standing of nonces, these f*ckwits are now looking for new targets - expect a raft of bogus 'reports' leaking into the media from these soft-shoe shufflers, scaremongering around 'happy hour' binge drinking, etc. Also expect the media to bend over and take it all up the arse with barely a doubt any of it can be true.

This country? :fp:

I'm sure there's probably some obscure nation/religion that is offended by having hankies waved at them which will vist England one day and register their handful of complaints thus eradicating Morris men from society forever.

Don't care. happy hour is gooseberry fool and is usually a gimmick that attracts the worst kind of dregs. it should only occur in student bars. That is the only time i have ever indulged.

Ah those were the days - Strawberry fields in LEEDS - 50p per shot.

It's only "happy hours" they aint saying they're banning alcoholic drinks all together or closing down pubs etc. Some may argue (Cal possibly) this is the start of something against the alcohol industry (much like the smoking industry) but they'll never be able to enforce a ban on the drinking culture.

In inability to drink on the streets is bad enough. Britain is such a gooseberry fool hole.

I don't personally mind, since i only ever go out drinking on a cheap drinks night.

But i can see why others are bothered.
