PostBT Sport prices announced; free for BT Broadband customers
by KK » Thu May 09, 2013 7:59 pm

BT Sport have today revealed that its new Sports channels (BT Sport 1, BT Sport 2 and ESPN) will be available free of charge for its 5 million BT Broadband users.

BT broadband users will be able to access the channels, free of charge, through the Sky, YouView and BT Vision platforms.

Non BT subscribers will be able to add the channel via Sky for £12-a-month or £15 for High Definition.

The channels will also have a dedicated online app.

Sky Broadband is currently priced at £7.50, and £14.50 a month line rental; BT's comparable service is £16 a month, plus £15.45 line rental charges.

So what do people think of the pricing then. Will it have Sky broadband customers swapping over?

We were talking about this in the MMA thread since BT Sport now have the UFC rights. No way for me to legitimately get the BT channels since getting a Sky installation or switching to BT Broadband aren't options. I've currently got ESPN on Freeview but I'll be cancelling that in a few months.

They've also changed th broadband prices to £10 for normal and £15 for fibre. Sounds good.

Currently pay £9/10 a month for ESPN so will continue to pay for this. Thought it was going to be worse.

ESPN won't have PL football any more, though.

I assumed it was free for all BT customers.

Isn't there a very strict monthly GB limit on that though?

Either way, can't see Sky just sitting back and taking that.

Apparently the subscription only works on one viewing card, so if you have Multiroom you have to pay to use it on each additional box.

Has this been confirmed yet? I've got BT Infinity as well but not BT TV so i'm hoping this is free for me as well :datass:

In comparison, how does their extra £12 a month compare to what ESPN currently charge Sky customers?

No idea. Just read it on a couple of stories today.
