Buffalo router problem

I've recently moved in with my GF at her parents' house and they inexplicably have no password set for the router. I'm trying to go about setting up a password, but it's proving problematic. I've had a little look online and it seems I should type in 192.168.11.1 into the search bar, then enter the username and password from there. The problem is nobody seems to know what either of them are and I'm not sure how to find out or even how to reset it. Would it be the same username and password used for their Virgin Media account? It's been changed at some point as it isn't the default settings.

I'm a complete noob at these things so I'm sure I'm talking bollocks, but if someone can point me in the right direction it would be much appreciated.

Try entering admin as the username and password.

If the password isn't admin it'll probably be changeme, those are the two usual ones I've seen.

Had a quick google and the consensus seems to

Username: Root
Password: (Leave blank)

I think I've also seen

Username Admin
Password (leave blank)

It's not the default settings, that's what I'm getting at. It seems to have been changed to a username and password at some point, but nobody knows what it is. Is there any way of finding out what it is or resetting it?

Virgin should be able to reset it.

Should've bought one from a more tech-savvy mod.

Is there a reset button on the router?
If you can't find the password, you might be able to just reset the whole router back to factory settings as a last resort.

Is that why he hasn't been on as of late?

That's what I'm thinking of doing. Would it be the Virgin username and password then? Or separate details? I just don't get how this Buffalo username ties in with it all.

Thanks for the replies guys.

If the box is reset it should then be

Username: admin
Password : changeme

Look lowercase on the back of my box.

This is why he shouldn't be a mod.

Find a hole with a button in it and stick a pin it to hold it down for about 5 seconds
