Wreckfest | PC (Jul), PS4 and XBO (Nov) | Destruction Derby Reloaded

This is the year, folks. THIS. IS. THE. YEAR.

Dude, it sounds like it may be worth taking a look at this. Eurogamer said "a true successor to the brilliant Destruction Derby" and awarded it a [RECOMMENDED] ranking.

I'll be purchasing on PS4 for sure.

Watching this clip reminds me more of a next gen Destruction Derby Raw, which had a similar setting and style of car.

Redownloaded this again, and it's much better than the state it was in last time I played. Menus are much more navigable, and the range of modes on offer is huge, by the looks of it.

Still runs like turd on my laptop, though. It didn't look that demanding, so I assume it's just poor optimisation, but you'd think after the length of time this has spent in development, they'd have that better by now.

£26.85 at Base.com.
So preordered hoping to recapture the hilarious, glorious Flatout days online.
Avon, buy on PS4.

Flatout is/was so much fun with a wheel. I've got such fond memories of playing it on a LAN and just hunching over my keyboard crying with laughter at the others piling up on a figure of 8 track.

Here’s hoping online options are configurable so we can set up a set of races. Probably one of my favourite ever online gaming phase when we ran the Flatout Tournaments.

I think we need to have a GRCade championship for this.
I have both PS4 and Xbox so don't mind which version we play on.

Can we add a list of who has what machine in the opening post please?

I miss our FlatOut days!

Been waiting since last November for this to come out. Will be PS4 for me though (don't worry too much, I barely get online these days)

I redownloaded this the other day and it's come a long way from where it was the last time I tried it. Playing with realistic damage and hard ai makes it quite scary.

81% on Metacritic - https://www.metacritic.com/game/pc/wreckfest

IGN - 9

Wreckfest is the long-overdue return of serious, high-quality destruction racing and, in that admittedly slim niche, it’s the king of the crop. It lacks a little spark off the track but out in the thick of it it’s some of the most frantic fun you can have on four wheels. I play plenty of serious racers, but sometimes it’s nice to toss the rulebook into the back seat and get out in the mud and trade some paint.

Gamespot - 9

It's rare when a racing game manages to modernize and reinvigorate an old formula with spectacular confidence, but Wreckfest does just that. Minor issues with menus and its soundtrack aside, it wows with a gorgeous look and wonderful driving feel, along with a damage system that satisfies in the most brutal of fashions. With its array of different cars, tracks, and event types, Wreckfest is a brilliantly fun and frenetic racing game that can be thoroughly enjoyed by anyone, not just racing game fans.

I'm enjoying this on PS4 although I'm struggling on normal. If I upgrade the cars it's not that bad but with the base cars it's a tough mission.

I got my Xbox copy in the post yesterday.

I agree with pc though, normal races are tough to start off with, but I've been enjoying playing on realistic settings. Finished a race with a damaged engine, damaged gearbox so I was stuck in 3rd gear, damaged suspension and unable to turn left unless I used the handbrake due to me missing the left wheel

The downside of just getting everything downloaded because disk changing is effort.
