Sorry to dissapoint any enthusiastic insectophiles who read this post topic quickly, but strawberry float.

My housemates stumbled in drunkenly in at 3 o'clock last night see what they seemed to think was a cockroach scuttling around the upstairs bathroom. I mean, I understand beetles have a right to hygiene, by I have got the serious heebiejeebies about those little f***ers. We went a-knockin' on some of the neighbours houses, who've all seemed to run into cockroaches at some point over the last year, and the house two doors has been vacated owing to what one gent described as "f***in' loads of them all over the floor, some dead, some alive".

Obv we've called the landlord, got a pest-control guy coming and all, but that doesn't stop me typing this from another friends bedroom who lives on the other side of town.

Seriously, I get so creeped out by the roaches of c0ck - I couldn't stop shivering when I found out. People looked very concerned at my quite hysterical outbursts, which in hindsight I couldn't control. I'm actually considering moving out of the house, despite 5 of my best mates at Uni live there, and was, up until last night, a pretty "kewl" place to live.

Anybody else have any cockroach-death-based hints and tips / massively irrational and socially debilitating phobias?

Oh man, you are f*cked. 5 of your best mates now know you have a cockroach phobia? You're going to spend your stag night tied up naked in a pit full of the things or something.

I think you'll find it's all a very elaborate ruse involving your bored shitless housemates and neighbours. In tough times like these, many people resort to lengthy practical jokes in the hope of witnessing some serious mental damage to the recipient. After all, those are the best types of jokes.

Give it a few days, and don't be surprised when you come home and enter the living room only to be assaulted by some gigantic cockaroachays that turn out to be your neighbours in disguise, who'll shout 'TA-DAAA!' in your catatonic face.

We have them in this country? I've never seen one.

Usually stamping on them makes them die quick enough. Easy too.

Don't bother using insect spray because chances are they'll be immune to it in like a week.

The fact that they could survive a nuclear blast is pretty cool.

Note: I don't know if this is true, but popular culture leads me to believe it.

I've never seen a cockroach either but at my parents old house, everytime the grass was cut in the field next to us, we would get an infestation of field mice. Unlike cockroaches, they were very cute.

But aren't the egg sacs located on the back which means stamping on them is a sure fire way to spread the eggs all over the carpet?

It's not true. They are much better at surviving radiation than a human, but not as good as many other insects and they wouldn't survive if they were near the explosion.
