Near me my favourite place is Uncle Sam's, I love their biggest burger. They also have the best chocolate milkshakes of all fast food places.

What happened to people?

A debate about burgers and not one person has brought up the old McDonalds vs Burger King argument! Ae we all too hipster for that now?

The Meat Co does a lovely burger, if you're around Shepherds Bush.

Also the Sahara Grill has a few locations around London and always does a good burger.

I also went to a place called Stax Diner just off Oxford street the other week and they weren't bad but not quite great.

McDonalds and Burger King beef does nothing for me. Doesn't have that true burger taste.

There is no argument, Burger King wins. For burgers at least, since they swap to the old KFC style chips they loose the best chip award.

Burger King chips are bloody awful.

I used to be a big fan of rapid McDonald's burgers but the amount of salt now puts me off a bit. Need like a strawberry floating litre of water to wash down a double cheeseburger

Absolutely, though Nice'n'Sleazy do corkers too.

Down south the obligatory Patty and Bun or Pitt Cue are winners.

I've yet to try Jacker or Sleazys, heard great things about them.

Been to Bread Meats Bread a few times always awesome, as is the confusingly similar Burger Meats Bun.

I will have to get myself to the Fat Hippo, still speaking locally - The Stand Comedy Club in Newcastle sometimes does Kangaroo Burgers, they were a bit smaller than the ones you posted but were lovely all the same. The only thing that was disappointing was they could have done a Skippy joke when they were brought to our table.

Definitely give it a go - but book ahead as they get really busy.

The city centre one is just off Grey Street but seems to be doing well despite all the competition in that area.

I've eaten at The Stand a couple of times, but don't go there nearly enough. Their Sunday roasts are far better than food from a comedy club has any right to be

Apart from a Big Mac, I find McDonald's best burgers tend to be the ones that then vanish within a couple of weeks. It's very irritating.

I'd say BK beats McD's for burgers, but the chips at BK. :dread: They used to be far and away the best, but they changed them a while ago and they're awful now, so McD's wins on that front.

For price and overall quality I'd go for McD's these days. Struggle to get a decent meal in BK for less than about £10, and those chips are awful.

MacDonalds Chicken Legends are the only burgers of theirs I'll sit down to eat. I occasionally grab a 99p cheeseburger when I'm in a rush somewhere or hungover and those do the job. Only ever had a Big Mac once and it was strawberry floating awful

The best in town is Fat Hippo in Jesmond, Newcastle (with sister outlet, Hippo Underground, in town).

I strongly recommend it to any of the North East GRcaders.

http://www.fat-hippo.co.uk/

On request, they served me a Fat Hippo burger (Burger, bacon, chorizo, cheese, caramelized onions and in-house bespoke sauce) in a cronut (croissant/donut cross). I only managed 3/4 of it, but holy shitballs it was heavenly.

Oh, and as a starter they do deep-fried Gherkins. I don't even like Gherkins that much, but they're immense.

strawberry float it, I might have to go this weekend. :datass:

Oh my! I think the North-East contingent of GRcade needs to meet up there!

I had my best burger ever in The Devil's Advocate in Edinburgh. Black and Blue burger (Beef & pork belly burger, black pudding, blue cheese, beetroot, quince aioli). Presented just like Poser's photo.

I still think it's daft that they don't just have that on permanently given its popularity.

Have you ever been to Gourmet Burger Kitchen on George Street (I think)? That's really good.

Not been to Jacker. Sleazy burgers get a solid 8/10 on the burger scale.

Burgers (and meat in general) in Texas are genuinely on a different level to ones I've had back home. It's ridiculous.
